We are going on our honeymoon Oct. 4-11. I have an ADR for O'hana on our last evening at Disney. We are on the dining plan and I have heard such great things about Boma. Should I change my ADR to Boma's instead of O'hana? It's seems that we would have more of a variety if we chose Boma. I have ate at O'hana when I was younger and have stayed at the Poly numerous times. Boma, I have never ate at nor have I ever been to the AKL. I don't know what to choose!!! Help!!! Give me some suggestions please!! :confused3

That's a tough call- We love them both! Since you haven't been to AKL I would recommend Boma and allow extra time to relax at the resort. We always walk around to see the animals and have a beer at the bar or by the pool. The food is great- even my picky MIL has Boma on her "must do" list.

We did both on our trip last weekend, and much preferred 'Ohanas. The waiters serve you the food at your table, you've got a great view of the castle, and the bread pudding is wonderful.

My family (4 of us) spent a week at the Poly last month. We had 1 dinner at Ohana, and it was the worst meal of the week. The shrimp were overcooked, and sitting in way too much liquid. The potatoes were greasy and bland. There was some sort of lousy vegetable. The steak was tough and not very tasty, the turkey was overcooked, and the pork was fatty. The sausage was just ok, but had no taste. Plus, they brought out things in the wrong order (potatoes before salad, then salad, then meat). Restaurant wasn't crowded, so no excuse there. However, the salad was good.

By the way, we found the rest of the food at Disney to be very good. I had 2 dinners at Kona, 2 breakfasts at Kona, plus mutliple meals at Captain Cooks. We also had 2 dinners at GF, 1 lunch at GF, plus lunches at MK and Epcot.

Ohana was our first meal, and glad we got the bad one out of the way. I don't think I would go back for dinner-but I might go back for breakfast.

Wer have always had good meals at 'Ohana and prefer this to Boma. Boma is very different, it can be a lot noiser than 'Ohana. However, it also has more choice, the Rib of Beef and the soups are particularly good.

Boma is also excellent for brerakfast, it is a diffucult choice, we would Choose 'Ohana as we have doen both, but if you have not done both maybe Boma for dinner or breakfast may be a good move.

Boma is an awesome buffet; there are lots of choices with many flavors. I ate at 'Ohana years ago when I wasn't a vegetarian and I liked it a lot, but the menu has changed since and I've read that people who liked the old menu are disappointed with the new one. So I would choose Boma.

Another vote for Boma here. I find the food at 'Ohana a tad on the heavy side and love all the soups and salads available at Boma. Plus, the AKL is beautiful resort to visit. My uber carnivore DS, however, really loves 'Ohana. DH and I will be trying both on our October trip.

I have heard a lot of negative things on this board about Ohana and a ton of positive on Boma. We changed from 1900 Park Fare top Boma because of all the wonderful things people had to say about it.....ok truth is I need to try the zebra domes lol

Boma is our favorite restaurant. We always try and go at least twice for dinner while we're at WDW. It is especially nice at night. The resort has storytelling around a fire, you can see the animals from a viewing area behind the pool, there's some beautiful artifacts displays in the main lobby and it's just a wonderful place overall. The food is very good but not for everyone's tastes. We are adventurous diners and will try almost anything. Ohana's is lovely but I don't think the whole experience can compare to Boma. Have a wonderful time!

We have always enjoyed 'Ohanas in the past and have eaten there several time for Breakfast and dinner. Every time we go to WDW my DH and I always try at least 1 or 2 resturants that we have not eaten at yet, plus some of our favorites that we just have to go back to. For our December trip we are going to try Boma's for the first time. We have read so many great things about it, we just have to try it. We are also trying Narcoossee's for the first time. Maybe we will have some additional favorites by the time we get home.

I considered Boma, (and will probably do in the future) but settled on Ohana last trip. I just loved the wings and the meats, the beef esp, with the peanut dipping sauce, wonderful! It's all just a matter of tastes and preferences.

Considered Boma for our upcoming trip, but opted against it. While DH, DD, and I like spicy foods (I'm sure not every thing is spicy, but I don't know, and of course spicy is relative) I don't want that for my DS3 at this time, and I don't necessarily want him ltd to the typical "kids" fare of chicken strips and macaroni and cheese. Also, spoke with a Nigerian co-worker of mine that typically prefers here native cuisine over American (though she's been here for many years), stated that her kids (all born here) don't like the Nigerian food. (Of course, they are kids and kids tend to follow along with their peers, even at a young age).

That being said, I just plan to wait a little longer, unless DH and I can have a child-free vacation to Disney, then that will be at the top of my list.

IMHO, it depends upon the people in your group and their tastes. I know you said it was for your honeymoon, so _I_ would go with Boma. I eat anything and everything with great enthusiasim, but am married to meat-n-Potatoes John wayne. He LOVED Boma, much to my surprise! I he also really liked O'Hana as well. I am more netural on it as I found the meat to be overcooked for my food purist palate. We had three teenagers with us on that visit (didn't go to Boma) and hands down O'Hana was their favorite EVENT (not just meal) on the vacation.

I love all things AKL and Animal Kingdom park but Boma just was not a good match for my family. We've tried it twice (probably because I couldn't believe that I didn't like it!) and both times we couldn't find enough for everyone to eat (again, totally our take on this, our preferences) and the noise level is incredible.

We love 'Ohana, and have an ADR there for August.

Now - to totally confuse you. Our entire family loves Jiko, and consider it to be one of the best restaurants at WDW. For a honeymoon meal, it would be lovely. Food is outstanding, restaurant is beautiful, as is the whole AKL.

Congrats on your nuptials!

Thank you all for your replies. Since we have the dining plan we are able to have 7 table service dinners. We chose Concourse Steakhouse, Shutters, Le Cellier, Narcoossee's, Coral Reef, and Ohana. Narcoossee's is a signature restaurant so that takes up 2 table services. Anyways, I'm not a breakfast person and neither is DF so Boma for breakfast is a no go. I guess it all depends on taste, but Boma's looks like it has a neat atmosphere. AHHHHH, I'm so confused :rotfl:

See i hear the opposite, More things positive about Ohana then Boma. I had to dump Boma, and took Spoodles instead. I'm afraid of all the spices and fruit (dd allergic) and coconut (dh hurles lol). Looking forward to Ohana...we have a restaurant here called Texas De Brazil that is similair and we enjoy it, its a bit pricier than Ohana, but has more selections of meat.

There is a Texas de Brazil on International drive, and although I love 'Ohana, that Texas de Brazil is in a totaly different league it is so good! 'Ohana is the same sort fo style, and is very nice, sort of a 3* compared to a 5*
