O'Hana leftovers, tacky or OK?

I was lucky enough to score a ADR for O'Hana. I keep reading posts that it is a LOT of food. If we are too full for dessert, can I ask for a to-go container and take the bread pudding home? I know that I am paying for the dessert anyways. If I would have food leftover on my plate, like meat and veggies, can I request to take that home too, or is that tacky?? Has anyone ever done that??

No, you cannot ask for a doggy bag at an AYCTE meal.

I agree. AYCTE and buffets- will not supply doggy bags for left overs. This is typical anywhere, not just at Disney. Otherwise everybody would be filling their purses with "leftovers".

However, if you couldn't eat your dessert at all, I think they might give you a takeaway container for it.

If you have like half of your food left then I don't think it can hurt to ask. It's just going to go to waste. Now if you order another round of food just to then ask for a take home box - yeah that's tacky.

We did ask for the (entire) dessert to go once, and it was okay, but we asked before it was even delivered.

It depends on the restaurant and even on the timing. We had a late dinner at Storyteller's once and I mentioned being too full for more than a bite of my favorite dessert. The next thing I knew I had a large box of pain au chocolat bread pudding with a ramekin of vanilla sauce because my waiter figured I could eat it later (it became breakfast!) and it was going to waste anyway.

I wouldn't count on it, but it's worth a polite request.

I love the ice cream on top of the bread pudding. Obviously, that wouldn't hold up as a leftover. I'm not sure how well the sauce would hold up either. It would likely get soaked into the pudding, and you'd lose on the flavor and texture.

I would imagine that a dessert to go would be no problem. Especially if when they bring out noodles, veggies etc, you tell them you may want to have dessert to go.

You can ask for the entire dessert to go, but I would not expect to be able to leave with leftovers of any kind.

I don't think it would be tacky to ask for your dessert that you paid for and didn't get a chance to eat. But like someone else mentioned, how well would it really hold up?

You pay for an aycte THERE

You did not pay for dessert, you paid for a meal w different components. No difference (IMHO) asking for the potstickers to go since you didn't eat them than the dessert

However, it's your vacation, do what you want, but I wouldn't. I would just save room if it is part of the meal you want to enjoy ;)

Enjoy your trip!

When we were last there in December, our 1 yr old granddaughter slept thru the entire meal. We asked for a to-go box to take a few of the leftover noodles and the waitress was unable to provide any sort of to-go container. :( I understand their reasoning behind it as people would be ordering extra of everything with the intent of taking it "to-go" but we were still disappointed nonetheless.

If I wanted to eat the dessert later, I would ask if I could get it to go. They might say no, though. I don't think it's tacky.

Stuffing wings and potstickers in your backpack would be tacky.

I totally agree. I believe if I eat too much to be able to enjoy desert that is on me. I don't think you should have an expectation to ask for desert to go.
