Just back 2/13 to 2/17. We were on the dining plan and I have to agree...there's sooo much food! Half of the time we weren't even hungry at meal time. We did save some money tho, about $200 between the meals and the tips being included. This is the second time using the dining plan and it has allowed us to try new places that we wouldn't normally "risk" alot of money on. That being said, we did try only one new table this time. We stayed at AKL. & used MYW without a problem. I'll just list the table service $.

2/13 arrival day. We got in around noon and grabbed a quick bite at Mara. Chicken strips were good, hubby had fish n fries which he said were ok. We had O'Hana booked for tonight so we just went to MK for awhile. This is our 3rd trip to OHana. Once for breakfast and twice for dinner. Everything was excellent and we waddled out! I know some people prefer the old menu but we love this one. The banana dessert was good. Our 2 servers were excellent. It just goes to show how different people can have different experiences. We'll definately be back. DDP O Hana $64.72

2/14 Valentines Day :love: . Breakfast was snacks in the room. Lunch was at Pizzafari. We shared the italian deli sandwich, chips, pop, and chocolate cake. Pizzafari is one of my favorite counters. Dinner tonight was at LeCelliar. We had the first adr at 5:00 and only waited maybe 15 minutes. We both ordered a glass of ice wine. Now I'm by no means cheap but what we gotfor $38.00 was pathetic. We both had maybe a 1/2 cup of wine. I was going to buy a bottle to take home but I can just imagine what that would have cost! I'm not a big wine drinker but this was an excellent wine and it was Valentines Day so we just laughed it off! We both had the cheese soup with the breadsticks. We also both ordered the maple glazed steak with the garlic mashed potatoes.....excellent! And for dessert we both had the maple creme brule which was also excellent. Definately will return. DDP Le Celliar $89.38 {w/o the wine!}

2/15 Hubby ran down and got a breakfast platter to share @ Mara. We pretty much left the room by 10:00 each morning so we just nibbled at breakfast as lunch was usually only a couple of hours away! Lunch was at Pecos Bills...gotta love the toppings bar. 2 bacon burgers {with x-tra toppings} fries {with the fake cheese sauce!} pop and a peanut butter desssert. Good for counter service and this is usually a stop when we have the kids along. Dinner tonight was at Boma. We ate here for the first time last August with the kids. I just wasn't into the food much this time. The prime rib was so rare that I just couldn't stand to put it in my mouth. I did find plenty of other things to eat tho and hubby tried a big variety of things. We'll probably return here again, I think I was just having an off night. DDP Boma $69.68

2/16 Can't remember breakfast or dinner today for some reason but we did have a table service meal at ESPN. This was our new place to try this week. Before we left home we looked at the menus on wdwig and we just thought there were more offerings listed {maybe for dinner?} Anyway, since we were on the plan, we both ordered appetizers. Big Mistake! I ordered the ultimate nachos and hubby ordered the wings. This could have been our meal! We both ordered the club wrap and shakes....no desserts this time. We just couldn't eat anymore. If you do come here, try to sit in the bigger dining room with the big screen. We had a booth by the bar and were hoping to catch some of the qualifying for the Daytona 500. We were constantly trying to see other moniters because ours at our booth were only showing dirt bike and snowmobile racing. Other than that tho it was a nice experience. This is the first time I've used a restroom with more tv screens than I have in my house! :woohoo: May come back another time. DDP $53.34 w/o dessert

2/17 We were departing at 11:00am for airport with MYW for a 1:50 pm flight and we had 3 counter service meals left so I used 1 and hubby used 2 for breakfast. We also had all 8 snack credits left so we used them on mickey rice krispie treats to bring home for the kids.

All in all it was a good trip as far as the dining went. I didn't get my dole whip or get anything from the bakeries in Norway or France :( but there's always next time! There are a few places that I'd like to try so as soon as I can talk hubby into another trip.....! :scratchin

Thanks for the reviews! :thumbsup2

BTW some info on icewine:
Because of the lower yield of grapes and the difficulty of processing, ice wines are more expensive than table wines . Grape growers take a huge risk by leaving the fruit on the vine long after the usual harvest time leaving them vulnerable to birds, animals and the weather. There is also less juice in each grape compared to a fall harvest. They are often sold in half-bottles (375 ml).
Wines are always way more expensive by the glass at a restaraunt, but it is a great way to try them without being stuck with a whole bottle of something you like. If you liked it, you can get some at your local store. In my area a bottle goes for $40-$60.

Oh we loved the ice wine but the price was a little shocking! Even after paying $7-$9 for pina coladas.....which is absolutely not a problem for me! I am going to try to find some locally, as I said it was excellent! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the review! It's great to hear a good word about O'Hana. I was considering changing our ADR from O'Hana to Boma, but still haven't decided. :confused3

how did you like the Mara? we are staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for the first time in May... did Boma have any normal food? some of my family is not adventurous in eating. thank you.

Thanks for the great reviews. I love wine and have never heard of 'Ice Wine' ? Maybe it has a different name in the uk ? If the prime rib is too rarer you can ask the server for a piece that is well done and they can carve it off an end piece for you.

Enjoyed reading your reviews ~ Thanx for posting.

My wife got a tiny taste of this at a booth during the Food and Wine Fest at Epcot. The cost for one swallow of wine? $14!

:crazy2:

Thanks for the reviews! Hmmm...seems like ESPN gets great reviews all the time. Always thought it was just standard bar food.

Question about the DDP. How did you have so many counter service credits left over? Did you share some? I'm going the DDP for the first time next year and am trying to figure out how to best utilize our dining credits. It seems from your review that you could have used all your credits. How'd you end up having some left over? Thanks for helping me understand!

Wow, you guys are impressive! Dh and I did order the wings and nachos as our dinner on the last trip, and we couldn't finish them, no way I would have been able to have anything else LOL.

thanks for the reviews - I tried the Ice Wine at the Food and Wine Fest and for the price - thank goodness I am not a fan!

You had the exact meal I had at Le Cellier a few months ago, except I just had a taste of the ice wine at one of the Food and Wine Festival booths. I'm not cheap either, but I can't justify spending $15+ on a glass of wine.

Thanks for the reviews. We will be going to O'hana, Boma, and probable ESPN when we go next month. I can't wait!

Thanks for the reviews. I'm looking forward to trying out LeCellier on my next trip. After reading all the great reviews it gets on this site, I can't believe I've never tried it before.

elgerber...We didn't finish any of it either! If I were to eat only the nachos, there's no way I could polish off a plate of them that big!

molly2004....yes, we did share a couple of meals. Like I said, half of the time there was just too much food for one person to eat!A couple of times we'd share a breakfast and a lunch. That way we weren't too full for our sit down dinner. We may have paid out of pocket also for one or two.

loveFl...we like Mara. This time we only had a quick lunch and a couple of breakfasts. We've stayed at AKL in the past tho and within the family, we've tried different things. My daughter once had what I believe is called the African bread bowl{bread bowl filled with African stew} and my husbands had the shrimp....not a real extensive menu but it's alright for a quick meal! And of course, there's the standard chicken strips with the honey dijon mustard that always works in a fix! Yes, Boma did have normal food too. For some reason the "odder" foods weren't sitting right with me this time {last trip I couldn't get enough} so I just had some chicken strips a pb&j and more than a few desserts.I also recall seeing mac and cheese. The bbq ribs were also pretty good.

I am happy to see the great reviews for ESPN. Maybe I will be able to talk my DW to go on our next trip.

Tell her to go for it. This DW is not a big sports fan but those wings were unbeatable!

P.S. They have a GIFT SHOP!!! :woohoo:

ESPN was a nice suprise for us. The portions were huge and it was just relaxing to walk over to the BW and get out of the parks for awhile. :thumbsup2
