How long should a dinner at 'Ohana realistically take? I have 2 adr's and I need to release one. One is at 4:30pm and the other at 6pm. I don't want to keep my kiddos up too late, so do you think we'll be done by 8pm if I keep the adr for 6pm?

Right. They can leave you waiting a really long time for your table. And the service can be slow. (But the food is SO good..)
I personally hate feeling rushed so if I had to be somewhere by 8, I'd stick with the 4:30. But it is early for dinner. (Unless you wait an hour for your table! ;) )

The other thing, is that this ADR is for arrival day and we can't check in until 4pm. Keeping a 6pm would give us some time to settle in before running out for dinner. Waiting an hour stinks lol!

Are you staying at Poly? Asking because of possible travel time from a different resort (before & after dinner.) It's possible that you could get into your room before 4, or you could just have bell services hold your bags until after your 4:30 dinner. My experience with small kids is better to eat early rather than later, but you'd know best whether that works for your family. :earsboy:

It does stink, unless you're prepared and take it all in good stride :)
I mean, you're still at the POLLY! At DISNEY WORLD! :D I walked around the shop and the lobby waiting for my table..

assuming you arrive on time of course

my last time there, and one of the reasons it was my last time, was the 35 minute wait for my check. And not for lack of trying. So 2 hours is my experience and why this is in the never ever snowball chance in hell of returning category

You can check in before 4...it's just that your room might not be ready until 4, or even after. Check in to your resort when you get there, and if your room isn't ready, have bell services deliver your luggage when your room is ready.

you should be done by 8 with a 6pm ADR. even if you wait 45 mins to an hour the meal should only take about an hour. In my experience they bring the food pretty quickly and for dinner you are not waiting for characters or anything. I would hate to wait that long though, which is why I made my dinner for when the restaurant opens... they should seat quickly then! So I would pick the 4:30 just because they would be less backed up. Also not sure if you want to put your little ones to bed on fully bellies.

yes. we just went and had 10pm adr. we were done at 11:15. but if you have a long wait to be seated then it could be longer. but you should be done by 8

We're staying offsite. I'm leaning towards keeping the 6pm, so everyone had a bit of time to unpack and unwind before dinner. Thank you everyone for your tips and opinions!!! Planning all this for 7 people isn't easy and I rely on your help!

I'm planning for 1 and it's not easy, so 7 must be so much harder! :-)
Have fun!!!! I'm sure it'll be great!!

Thank you! It has been difficult planning everything for 7 people, but I love planning for Disney trips for my family. We're splitting up some days for adrs and fp+, so that has been challenging too.

I agree. If you are staying offsite keep the 6. At 6 they Hopefully are not too backed up
Have Fun

We had a 6:05 ADR last week. Arrived at 5:30 and checked in. Were seated at 5:45 and out an hour later. I don't think that's typical though. This was the night before the hurricane was forecast to hit so nothing seemed normal that night.

The good news is usually you are done eating within an hour of sitting down. The bad news is it can take some time to get a seat even though you have your ADR. And for parties of 7, well maybe longer than if you're 4.

That said I'd keep the 6. I don't think you'll be too much past 8. But arrive around 5:40 or so. Make sure you account for time to get there, park, and get in. I really can't see you getting to bed past say 9. Most likely 8-8:30. That's at your off site hotel.

We waited around 20 minutes to be seated for out 8:15pm reservation, then we were done in just over an hour. It took the server about 5 minutes to come and take the initial drinks order (but the seater brings the bread over with you) but once we had the drinks all of the food comes out quite quickly.

We've eaten at 'Ohana 3 or 4 times and only once did we have to wait a bit after our ADR time for our table. Twice actually we checked in a little early thinking we would get a drink at the bar and we were seated immediately (well before our ADR time).

My last time was last August. WE waited for a long time to be seated, much longer than what I consider their "reasonable" wait time and it went downhill from there. I will need to have someone in our party who really wants to dine there before I add it to our rotation every again.
