Just made our ADR for our trip (5-30-11 to 6-8-11). We got most of our restaurants at the time we wanted, except Ohana.
Wanted a 6:30pm ADR for 6-1-11 but all that was available was 8:20pm.

Can anyone offer some advice on how to get an earlier ADR?

We are 3 adult and 3 children (7,5,and an infant). An 8:20pm dinner reservation won't work with the baby.

Any suggestions on when I should call and check to see if an earlier time is available?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Take the 8:20 ADR.. I know its late.. but.. you may at th right time to see the fireworks.. Or.. if t hat really is too late.. then call every day.. lots of times people make multiple adrs .. but will cancel.. good luck..

The only thing you can do is keep checking. Check online daily, multiple times a day if you can.
At your 45 day mark or right before it you may see some openings. As people that can't make it cancel at this time.

Also the closer it gets there will be a "may/june" cancellation thread, check that as well. People will post what they are canceling so you have a heads up.

Good luck, thats the only thing you can do.

Definitely keep checking. We had an 8:10p reservation for Ohana this past week, and they also ran late. We didn't get seated until almost 9. So take that into consideration as well :)...seems like all the heavily-sought restaurants run late. We also ran a 40 minute wait for our 8:20 Le Cellier reservation this past weekend!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!!:flower3:

I've thought about being able to see the fireworks, but we still think it is alittle late for the baby.

I'll keep checking.

Thanks again!!!!!

All I can say is keep trying back. We did this and lucked up one time and got an earlier time

Any chance at one of the adults bringing the baby in for a late-afternoon nap and then meet the rest of your party for the ADR?

Also, as others have said, just keep trying for an earlier ADR. You could also try to show up early and see if they can get you in. If you do that, you may also end up waiting until your actual ADR time.

This happened to us on our last trip and I just kept trying every day, at different times throughout the day. We finally got our ADR and we're hooked!:thumbsup2 This is now one of our must-do's, like a lot of people I'm sure, which it's so hard to get an ADR!:headache:

Good luck and keep trying.:goodvibes

We will be there on 6/1 at the same time. 'Ohana was the only reservation that I was not able to get the time I wanted. I am not really worried about it. I think that an earlier time will open up between now and then. Just keep trying. Good Luck. If not, I will see you there.

Don't give up hope, believe it or not we actually got a 7:15 reservation for three about 2 hours before by calling the reservations line.
This was last Friday night Dec 3rd and we had 2 table service credits to use before midnight so I figured I would call and you can't believe how surprised I was when she said Ohana was available.
We had a wonderful time and the food was a LOT better than when we were there 2 years ago. Walk ups to the podium were being told a 3 hour wait!
You never know when there will be a last minute cancellation.

Are you able to visit Ohana on a different date perhaps a bit further into your trip? You may have better luck with a later date. We had to do this on our last trip Good luck.

As previous posters have mentioned, you can keep trying! We've seen so many reservations appear and disappear on-line, so that's an easy way to keep checking back.

If you do end up with the 8:20pm, it's tough to say. I would absolutely agree that's late and not ideal, but in the end it could go either way. We always make ADRs between 5:30pm and 6pm because our youngest son is now a pre-schooler so that time works best for him. On the other hand, when our youngest son had just turned two years old and our older boys were 8 and 9, we had a 7pm ADR at Liberty Tree - we thought that was too late for a toddler. But as it turned out, he fell asleep in the stroller and the four of us had a very quiet dinner - our two older boys loved it and we really enjoyed that time with them!

This is our 14th trip and I have yet to get into Ohana. We'll be there all next week and I've been trying since we booked our trip to get in but still haven't been able. I know people double book but even when I go there willing to wait in line, they tell me don't bother because they never seem to have any available. So good luck and I'll keep trying too.

We ate at Ohana's on Dec 1 and had a 7:35 ADR. We checked in about 20min early and had to wait about 1 1/2 hrs. They were running very late and from what we were told this is pretty normal. They said people were waiting for the fireworks and once they were over table would open up. They were right but it was a long wait.

We loved Ohana (went for the first time last week), and it will be one of the restaurants we will try to get to at least once every trip. Our reservation was 8:10 but we didn't get seated until about 9pm. We also have a 19 month old. But I will say that I was SHOCKED because she did exactly what a previous poster said--she got tired and slept in the stroller! She also did this at a 9:15 Le Cellier ressie we had (it was the only one we could get) and an 8:00 2 hour show of the Spirit of Aloha. So if worse case comes, can you bring your stroller for the infant and try them sleeping?? You may be pleasantly surprised!

Becca, Dec 1st was our Ohana night as well! The place was a madhouse, we had a 8:10 res and got seated around 9pm. It would be funny if you were the one who I asked how long you waited for your table, I remember asking a young couple how long they waited and they said an hour, and they had gotten there early as well! The sweet girl told me she hoped I had better luck than they did getting seated. :)

I'd say just keep trying. I've always gotten the time we want, but it's just DH and I and we go in off season. I do have to say, I can understand the infant issue. My boys would never have been able to deal with dinner at 8:20 since they were in bed by 7:30 until they were at least 2. And, a nap would only mean a cranky child. Once they were down, they were down for the night and staying up past bedtime wasn't an option. My boys really surprised family members who were visiting when they were about 2and4 because they asked to go to bed at 8. They had a routine and it made bedtime for all involved very easy.

And, we've never been seated at our reservation time. We've always had to wait, usually close to 1/2 hour.

If you can't get a better ADR then I would say try going early. We had two late reservations for our last trip and one was the night before we were flying out early the next morning. We went about 3 hours early for both reservations between 5:30-6:00 and got in with very little wait for both. It is worth a try.

If you are not able to change your time, you can always arrive earlyto the restaurant and they may be able to get you in, If you want to get there when they open at 5:00 they most likely will be able to get you in then.

Personally, I think an 8:30 -8:45 reservation at Ohana is the perfect time and would never choose anything else, but that's just me. They dim the lights and pipe in the Wishes music, and do the kids activities right after. You'd never catch me in there at 6, but I digress....

If they don't have one already, you will soon see a Cancelled thread for the month you are going, where people will post the reservations that they have cancelled. My advice is to stalk it daily and look for someone who has cancelled Ohana.
