Can someone tell me all about O'Hana for dinner? We'll have 4 children with us...8, 5, 3 and 3. What type of entertainment do they do for the children during dinner, if anything?

And I know the menu is family style, but is there a children's menu to order off of for them? What are the choices?

Thanks for any help you can give!!

We love O'Hana's! They have a few activities for the kids. It's very family oriented. They have hula-hoop games and a coconut race where the kids sweep a coconut around the room with a broom. Sometimes they also have hula dancing lessons! My kids, who have been there when they were 6 and 7 love it!

As for kids menu's, I'm not sure. I've heard that they have some alternatives to the family style food, but I've never seen it.

Go...you'll love it!!!

My DS, who is 5, is a very picky eater and wouldn't touch anything that was served at the regular O'Hana's so we asked the server and he said they had the usual children's fare - macaroni & cheese, chicken strips, grilled cheese, etc... They brought my son a grilled cheese & fried and only charged about $5.00. I was thrilled.

We only have 1 dd,8... I think they plan on the 'activities' at certain times (20 after the hour, 30 min. after the hour... on the hour... some specified time!)

We came in, and were seated, we just missed the coconut races, so our server took dd to thse end and got dd a gummy worm (at end everyone gets a worm for working)... when our waiter came, I mentioned dd only eats french fries, well actually truth be told she'll eat a "bowl of ketchup" and french fries on the side!! :rotfl: our waiter did indeed bring dd a bowl of ketchup (which dd did finish!) and fries.... dd did 'compete'/play with hula, then later the coconut races............ while she played, dh and I smiled at each other, talked, ate...and enjoyed!! (OK I did get up 2x to take pictures!)

:teeth: Ohana's was our absolute favorite meal for our entire trip!!! Our boys are 12 & 16 so they ate everything. :rotfl: I did notice when the 2 girls at the table next to us weren't eating, the waiter brought them pb&j's (uncrustables) and told the parents "no charge" for them. I thought that was really nice. Of course, I also thought it a bit strange for the girls not to be eating because we thought everything was delicious. It sounds exotic, but it's basically barbecued meat (turkey, steak, pork, and shrimp). The pineapple and caramel at the end were just too good for words (IMHO). ::MickeyMo

We just ate here on Sunday and as always we loved it. My DD is an adventurous eater and loves the meats and all the sides. She also enjoy the hula hoop and coconut races too. We went last December and my niece is very picky and they brought her out mac and cheese right away. I don't remember what they charged for that though. The sides are great and there is a great variety, I would encourage your kids to try them and not just automatically order chicken fingers or mac & cheese. DD really enjoys the shrimp (we do ask for it to be grilled without the seasoning) and the steak she loves too. Have fun, we love this place!!

Love, Love, Love Ohana's!

Whenever we talk about favorite places to eat in WDW, our two boys (7 & 4) always say Ohana's!

And, as a previous poster mentioned, if the buffet is not up your child's alley, they will let you order off of the kids menu (hot dog, grilled cheese etc.) I don't think they charged us for the buffet when my 4 year old did that. Just a la carte for the hot dog. Just an FYI

Go -- You will have a blast!

HHHHHMMMMMMM!!!!! PINEAPPLE and CARAMEL!!!! My favorite--- thanks for reminding me.

I also have notices Mac and cheese and PB&J on some of the childrens plates at Ohana. Although everyone we have ever brought there has enjoyed the family style menu. The views of the castle are great, and if you plan your PS's or AR's right, you could watch Wishes from the resturant or the beach. :rolleyes1

So glad to read these reviews! We have PS for Ohana on July 4th and are very excited about it. I also heard that the children can order from a separate menu. That's great! I don't imagine my two grandsons will be that adventurous to partake of the regular menu. We are leaving one week from tomorrow! :bounce:

My kids are VERY PICKY eaters, so I immediately just ordered them something else. They brought them chicken tenders. Well, the chicken tenders were never touched. They loved the beef and the shrimp! I was shocked!! So, they've just ate off the regular menu since.

Wow, I was going to post a question about this tonight! I'm thrilled to see so many positive responses. I'm looking forward to trying 'Ohana in October!

Based on reader's reviews, we ate at Ohana's when we were at WDW in early May. I hate to sound like a contrarian, but we weren't impressed. The appetizers were okay but the meat was a little on the dry side. So, over all, we didn't think it was as good as I believed it would be. OTOH, maybe it was just one of those times when some of the 'magic' had dissipated.

We tried Ohana for the first time on our last trip in May. We loved it!! Everything was so good. We will definately be going back again on our next trip. We ate there our first night of our trip and it was a great way to start off our vacation.

This is hands down, my family's favorite restaurant on property! My 9yo is EXTREMELY picky, and he'll eat the steak and chicken here (which is prepared te same way at home and refused, btw)

The coconut races and hula 'contest' are a nice diversion for the kids. While my kids eat the items offered, I understand that they share a kitchen with Kona, and can serve any of the kid's meals items offered at Kona.

My younger son's 6th b'day is next month and for the second year in a row, this is his choice for a birthday dinner.

BTW, our quick 'we wish we were at WDW' cure (before we moved to FL) was fresh pineapple chunks dipped in caramel. YUM!
