Ohana Character Breakfast - Awesome!

Just back. Although we mostly ate at counter service places (kids have a hard time sitting still through a long meal), I just had to write a report about the character breakfast at Ohana.

This was the only character breakfast that the kids and I could do. We couldn't do a buffet (DH was at a conference) and weren't going to be in the parks. Before we left I found very little information about this breakfast, and almost cancelled it figuring it wasn't that great. I'm sure glad we went--it was one of the best parts of our whole trip!

Our reservations were for 10:10, but we didn't get there until 10:35 (long story, let's just say I didn’t realize 5 deluxe resorts shared the same bus to MK--but that's another story!) They seated us without a problem at a table looking straight at the castle. The restaurant was only about 1/4 full, so the character interaction was great! The cast: Mickey, Goofy, Chip and Dale. Each character came around 2 times, and spent a nice amount of time with each of my children. Then as we were finishing up they announced it was time for the last parade (wasn't award they had one!). The kids all grabbed maracas and marched around the restaurant. My 2 year old son was having trouble keeping up so Chip took him by the hand and led him through the parade. It was great!

Food was typical breakfast fare: scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, sausage, bacon, biscuits, fresh fruit, and Mickey waffles. Good, but nothing to write home about.

All in all, this is the best character meal we've ever been to (been to Chef Mickeys and CRT). 5 year old DD can hardly wait to go back!

We like this one, but have had both good and bad luck here. Last time we had late reservations, and they were running behind with a very full restaurant, so the characters were gone halfway through our meal. Didn't make anyone too happy, and I won't be scheduling late again.

But we love the "not a buffet" aspect.

Just out of curiosity, were you there at a particularly busy time of year? I left the restaurant thinking how glad I was we had a late PS. Maybe I'll have to re-think that.

October. After Columbus weekend (like that Wednesday or Thursday). Shouldn't have been as busy as it was, but I thought everything was very busy this year in October.

Mickey wasn't making rounds, but was out front - and - by the time we got seated - was only going to be out there for another 15 minutes - so we had to go stand in line to see Mickey rather than getting fed (and we were of course, all starving - thinking we'd be seated 40 minutes earlier). I don't like standing in line at character meals - if I wanted to stand in line to see Mickey - I wouldn't book a character meal.
