'Ohana has been our first night tradition ever since our honeymoon trip ten years ago. In fact, we have a later flight for our upcoming trip, and I have an ADR for dinner at 9PM because DH says we're just not in Disney till we eat at 'Ohana.
Yes, it's a loud, busy atmosphere, but it only adds to the fun for us. We like to be in the middle of the action and always tell the hostess at the podium that we're willing to wait for a table in the main dining room, but if you prefer a quieter meal, you can always ask to sit toward the back of the room or off to the side.
As for the food, as long as there's no vegetarians in your party, there's really something for everyone. The few times we've had meat that was too dry, we've asked the server to bring us another skewer instead and they did so with no problem.
If you're going with kids, they'll love the coconut races, limbo contest, and hula lessons. 'Ohana is so much fun, and is the essence of "Disney" for us. I think you should try it at least once. Enjoy!
