Headed to Disney next spring. There will be 4 adults and 2 kids, ages 2 and 4 and I wanted to treat everyone to a special dinner. I haven't done any of these (Ohana, Mickey's Backyard BBQ or the Hoop de Doo Revue) so I wanted to get some opinions on which ones the kids might enjoy the most. The adults are ages mid 40's and early 30's if that makes a difference. Thanks!!!

Ohana was by far the best meal we had on our last trip. We're going again
on our upcoming trip.
I would pick Ohana.

If you think your kids can sit through a dinner show, HDDR. I took my DS when he was almost 4 and he barely made it through the meal. He did enjoy going to the stables and playground next door to the theater, however, so the evening wasn't a complete bust. If you don't think they can sit through it, I would do O'hana. They will have music and some games for the children to play during the meal (coconut races, limbo, etc.). I wouldn't do Backyard BBQ. I'm just not a big fan of buffets with little kids.

When I took my four-year-old to HDDR, she was restless at the table and one of us had to take her out of the building and look at the pin kiosks, play on the playground, etc. The next year we went to the BBBQ and she had a blast! She could get up to dance whenever she wanted, and I have to say all of our adults had more fun, too - we drank quite a bit more than we had at HDDR, because you could go up to the moonshine bar and get refills whenever you wanted instead of waiting for the waitress to bring refills, or feeling self-conscious about asking for more booze! She really enjoyed Ohana when she was three, but we went for breakfast, not dinner.

OHANAS is the Best!!! We go their every trip. We have been to HDDR x2, it's a good show, the food is just ok, and we haven't been to the BBQ yet but have plans for our next trip. You really can't compare the 3. Ohanas is a great restraint, the other 2 are dinner shows. I would decide if you wanted an excellent meal, or great entertainment.

Look, I had the same decision for our trip next month. I've been to none of these places and have four kids, ages 2, 6, 9, and 11. We're staying at FW, so HDD and MBYBBQ are right there for us. I read at least half a dozen threads just like this one. We decided on MBYBBQ and here's why:
1) Young kids all enjoy MBYBBQ, while some can't get through HDD (a great show for older kids and adults). I don't want to risk restless children when spending 2 DDP TS credits (or serious OOP cash).
2) Both dinner shows have unlimited alcohol.
3) MBYBBQ sounds more casual and laidback, a nice environment for kids, where they can get up and move around.
4) The point @Nornster made about your ability to get your own drinks (alcoholic or not) goes for the entire meal. When my kids read that a DIS kid went to MBYBBQ and ate 7 Mickey ice cream bars, they insisted on getting their own shot to eat ice cream until they explode.

Never been to MBYBBQ, so can't give an honest report on that one. But we have done HHDR twice and really enjoyed it. The show is fun and corny, the food is good, though its comfort food, so nothing exciting, but it is good.
Ohana, we have been many times. The food is tasty, and the entertainer involves the kids with the music and games. So if your kids aren't overly shy, they may enjoy

Thank you all do much for the opinions. Helps me get a better picture of the differences between the three.
