Would you do both? We loved Kona last year and wanted to go again this year. I am also wanting to try different places, are they two different experiences? Will there be things for DD2 to eat at o'hana?

Do both!!--we did last yr and are doing it again in Jan '12.....2 different experiences. The food at Ohana our kids love---potstickers, asian noodles, wings, brocolli, grilled meats/shrimp and awesome banana break pudding. Fun little activities to do during dinner like coconut races, etc. We love Kona too, gotta love the ny terriaki strip and tuna oscar there--that is a more laid back dinner we enjoy without the noise and hoopla of the silly games. Enjoy.

I agree...They are both a must do!:woohoo: The food is different at both but yummy! Plus, you get to spend more time at the Polynesian!:cool1: If you book a later ressie at 'Ohana, you can see and hear wishes or special event fireworks!

does anyone know how much the Ohana breakfest is...if reasonable will POP intead of using TS....

For your daughter, it will just depend upon what type of eater she is. We took our son to 'Ohana at ages 1 and 2. We were able to find plenty for him to eat, but he is not a picky eater. Since 'Ohana is served family style, it operates like a Disney buffet does when it comes to pricing. Children under 3 are allowed to eat what is served, but you will not be charged for them. If you find there is nothing that she will eat, they do have a children's menu you can order from, but you have to ask (and you would have to pay OOP, but she would not leave hungry). :)

I agree with everyone who says to do both, if you can. I have always wanted to try Kona, but, thanks to the new Winnie-the-Pooh movie, it got cut from our list for Crystal Palace.

Kona and O'hana are two very different experiences. We love O'hana! They have great food and atmosphere - and they do have a kid's menu.

We've done both every trip and LOVED both!! They are 2 completely different experiences! :thumbsup2

Do both, different experiences and different food. We love the family style of O'Hana and the grilled meats. The breadpudding and ice cream are awesome!

Kona, well my kids love it there. I book it when we go as my DS loves the Kona Cone for dessert. If you are concerned about similar menus, try Kona Cafe for breakfast! We will go multiple times on our next trip! Yum!!

Thanks everyone!!! Im pretty sure we will do BOTH, and I am super excited from all the great feed back!!!

depends on what meal you're talking about....if it's breakfast, I would absolutely do both (they are my two favorite breakfast places)

I've never been to Kona though for lunch or dinner so I can't comment on that

This December we'll be doing both. 'Ohana for dinner and Kona for lunch....on different days of course!

I love the plate lunch at Kona. They have the BEST macaroni salad...it's awesome!! And only available at lunch!

As far as your 2 year old finding something to eat...I think even the pickiest of eaters would be able to eek out a meal at 'Ohana!

Have fun!

I hate to disagree with those that say to go to both, but I feel the need to share our experience. We ate at 'Ohana last time based on the overwhelmingly positive views on this board and really weren't that impressed. We made a reservation late so that we could see Wishes as suggested. It was a mistake.

First of all, they were running late. Like 40 minutes.

Second, our service was horrible. We rarely complain, but we actually insisted on seeing a manager it was so bad. Beyond the bad service, the manager was rude.

We also did not get a view of Wishes as we had hoped. It's understandable, of course, but don't go planning on it working out that way.

And finally, we thought the food was only so-so and delivery was slow. I'm sure it is because the restaurant was packed, but the night would have been better if the food we waiting endlessly to recieve would have been good.

So...as you can imagine, we are not going back this year. We're headed to Kona instead. If you do end up going to 'Ohana, I hope you have a better experience than we did! It seems like others have better experiences, but this was ours.

BOTH!

We went to Ohana for the first time last November and we thought it was fabulous! Can't wait to go again and that's coming from all 5 of us. Was a wonderful experience that we all still remember so fondly. Have never had breakfast there, but I'm sure that would be great as well.

Kona is where we eat breakfast on our last day right before heading home. It's a tradition we plan to always continue. We have never eaten anything but breakfast there, as we've not managed to squeeze it in, but I've heard so many good things about the menu, I'd love to go there.

I'd definitely do both. Totally different, super experiences. Have fun!

We're doing both for the first time this trip and spreading it out so we don't have a poly restaurant overload. On the first night we arrive we're doing dinner at O'hana well BEFORE Wishes or the water pagaent. (I've read a lot of people make the rookie mistake of booking around 8:30 and then they're stuck inside with no view of anything.) We actually did that at the luau and missed everything on our first trip!

Kona will also be dinner but not until our last day.
