Ohana Advice?

I will be going with my family (DH, DD4, DD8months) in November and have never tried 'Ohana so I thought we should try it based on the good reviews I've seen. We will be staying at the Polynesian, so it is also convenient. I have a couple of questions:

Is going to the Character breakfast and dinner too much? My DD4 and my DH love everything with characters so I thought this might be fun.

What kind of activities do they have for children? Are they appropriate for a 4 year old?

How hard is it to get a table by the window for dinner? My DD4 is petrified of the sounds that fireworks make, and this may be a good alternative. Any tips on how to get seated by the windows? This is not a do or die thing, just might be fun if we can do it.

Thanks for all the help. I have been "lurking" on these boards for over a year and get great ideas to make each WDW trip we take more memorable!

Welcome to the Dis, hiclarke! We are glad you joined us.

I dont think going to both meals at Ohana during your trip would be too much. Personally we have only done dinner(love it), but if you want a character breakfast, with the convenience of being in your resort, that would be a great choice.

I believe they only have the games at dinner. There are hula hoop contests and coconut races and kids of all ages participate. My DS did the coconut races at age 3 and 4 and he did fine.

As for a window seat you can always request one, but remember its not guaranteed, so dont be disppointed if you dont get one. We have eaten at Ohana twice and have never been near a window(requested it once). Honestly, we still loved the meal and experience.

Good luck!

You can always eat and then go grab a chair on the beach and watch the fireworks. They are not that loud since you are so far away. My DD loves the coconut races and hool a hoop contest. We eat there every trip! :cool1:

We just booked a last minute trip for May and already made our PS for Ohana! My Mom's first trip and she has to eat there.

ENJOY! :teeth:

Ohana's is our favorite . It is a very good relaxed atmosphere and there are lots of kids there. last time dd was 3 and she did the hula hoop "contest" and the coconut racing. They had gummy worms at the finish line!!!

We had a view of the castle and it was great. You can request this seating but you may have to wait longer. Personally, I would not do the breakfast the same day as the dinner. Too much food. I would personally recommend hoping on the monorail to Chef Mickey's for their character breakfast to break up the resturants on another day. Something new!!

Just wanted to say that I think this is a great idea - make a earlier dinner ressie and head out to the beach to see the fireworks. You'll also be able to catch the EWP too.

Some folks will tell you that you can never eat at O'Hana too often.
We try to fit in at least two visits over the course of our trip (10 days).
Our preference is definitely dinner!
Our son loves the activities & the gummy worm reward at the end.

I have been to Ohana's twice, and both times, I had a PS for right when they opened. We always received a window table looking directly at the castle, and the restaurant was not too terribly crowded either. We were visiting during the slower times of the year though, but that is my suggestion. It just makes sense to me that if you are one of the first few seated, then you would have a better chance at a window table. The layout of the restaurant provides quite a few window tables also. Good Luck!

Not to disagree, but our 2 visits were also 5:00pm PS and we were no where near a window. ;)

LLLOOOVVVVEEE Ohana's!
SO jealous that you're staying at the POLY! We had appetizers+drinks one night, take out to our room another for lunch, dinner for Wishes at MK (music piped in) and loved the breakfast the morning we left!
