Oh Yeah, V's At It Again! A May 2007 Pre-Trip Report

Okay, question: What is it about older people and their need to pack food. My MIL does it when she comes to MY HOUSE! Apparently she thinks the only place you can get cheese is in NY. Yes, CHEESE. Packed in a suitcase. Warm. For HOURS! :scared: Not only cheese, but other things the grocery store 2 minutes from my house has in stock. :confused3 I don't get it.

Rolodex cards...

I'll have to show DH. It might keep us from being laughed at on the bus. More compact than a binder. Less obvious than the spread sheet.

Nicely done.

My grandmotha (that's how I have to say it) did this too. And...we live in New Mexico. We got bagels, hot dogs (must be Kosher), pastrami, pastries, canolis, etc...all the way from New York! :lmao:

Checking the 15 day weather forecast.
Its looking pretty good:cool1:
So now I’m faced with making a few cuts here and there on my own or letting my mother have a go at it.
DONT DO IT!!!In my experience I have never had luck with the scissors and I ALWAYS make it worse. I agree with Tracy that maybe some highlights will help. When I highlight it changes the texture of my hair for the better, so styling is always better.
we’re making it an official Team Focker Watch meet! And we’re hoping a few other TFW members will be able to join us as well.
Im going to try real hard as I would love to meet ya. Ive already started brainwashing the kiddies.....hahahahaha.I never said I was nice!!!
*EP for drinks and Illuminations, followed by some Boardwalk time
*Downtown Disney for drinks and shopping
*Drinks at the Poly beach, watching the Electrical Water pageant and Wishes

Anyone see the common theme throughout?
Oh I see it alright!!:thumbsup2
Im kind of looking forward to adult beverage time after the kiddies are asleep and DH and I can relax on the balcony.

Cool idea!!I may have to steal it.
I've been keeping my stuff on post it notes. I'm gonna have to start using a spreadsheet.
Thats where my stuff is on LIME GREEN post its!

I am going to make those cards!

We are going back in Sept and talked my neice, her husband, and DD6 into going at the same time. I just bought them all tshirts at the DIsney Store. I bought 2 pair of crocs - love the SCUTES! DH is buying a pair of Scutes this week. I just need to get on Zazzle and order some more DIsney Tees.

And you actually have as many black shoes as I do! For some reason, I only wear about 3 of them.

No one keeps their spreadsheets on their PDA?

No one keeps their spreadsheets on their PDA?

OOOhhhh,an idea for some reason I never thought of. Maybe I can download it to DH's PDA.

But as Tracy said earlier about spreadsheets: "once you go there, you never go back!!"
Thats exactly what I'm afraid of:eek:
Next thing you know Ill have a clothing spreadsheet for everyone!!

With less than a week to go, I’ve been busy with all those last-minute, pre-vacation preparations: Setting up the cat sitter. Checking the 15 day weather forecast. Scheduling my workload immediately before and after the trip. Packing what I can.

Yay!! You're almost there! I looooove when I get to the "last minute" stuff! :thumbsup2

Stressing about my hair.

Not again!

Yes, again. Remember, I did chop it some more.
And it looked great.

For 2 days.

Now, it’s back to an okay-but-sort-of-Momblobby-not-at-all-edgy-not-crying out “Beneath this suburban mom exterior lies an artsy, urban rockin hot chick!”-bob.

I called my stylist. Nope. Can’t get in till’ May 15.

So now I’m faced with making a few cuts here and there on my own or letting my mother have a go at it. Or leaving it be and wearing a hat for the next week. None of them ideal choices. Really, this isn’t intended to be a cliffhanger. I truly have no idea how it’ll pan out. I’m waiting right along with you all for the results. popcorn::

Oh no!!!:scared1: What are you gonna do???

But enough of that. I actually have been doing more than obsessing over my hair situation.

Of course! I'd expect nothing less!

After all, I’ve got some exciting new things planned for this trip! I’m in line to host one of our infamous Focker Crocs during my stay; Fritzie von Crocker Focker, to be precise. And I’ll be getting him from puggymom at MGM, in person on May 2! No way – none of this leaving the Croc at the front desk avoidance for us… we’re making it an official Team Focker Watch meet! And we’re hoping a few other TFW members will be able to join us as well.

You know, I think I'm on the list for a croc myself in August...Wherever the heck the list is this week:confused3 ...I'll have to go look!

I have gotten the packing started and am pleasantly surprised at how little luggage Leo and I need this trip! It’s been so long since we traveled in warm weather, I’d forgotten how much less room T’s take up compared to sweaters. Between us, we’ve got two carry-on sized wheeled suitcases, a small overnight bag for our one night at AKL, and the beach bag with towels for Typhoon Lagoon.

I'm jealous! I was hoping for a TL day in December...till YOU forecasted the weather anyway....:rolleyes1

Oh my – have I even mentioned Typhoon lagoon yet??? Guess it’s time to talk itinerary. :surfweb:

I was gonna say...it's about time to talk itinerary, isn't it?

I knew a couple things I absolutely wanted to do from the very start of my planning.
A. I don’t want to go to Animal Kingdom (AK).
2. I’d love to take Leo to his first water park.

I'm not hitting AK either this next go-around! I have no interest to be part of a herd in the August heat! Even if they do have the Kali Rapids..

My point here is that I can live without AK. But Leo likes the animals. That’s why we’re staying at AKL for a night! Leo gets his animal fix and Mommy gets to skip out on AK. :thumbsup2

You're going to LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the AK...it's perfect for an animal fix! And they have nice bartenders who make very yummy drinks at the pool bar! Just saying...you know, in case you were wondering...Just another service I offer!

I’m very excited about Typhoon lagoon, though! Readers of Where’s the Lime? Might remember Leo’s tendency to sink like a stone. Guess what? He still does.

:rotfl: Poor little guy! You crack me up!

But. TL has this awesome little kiddie area with slides just his size and only 2 feet of water. Not only can Leo have a good time, I’m hoping he’ll get more comfortable in the water, too. And. I have fond memories of my previous trip to TL. Where I spent the afternoon at that nice little beachfront tiki hut that serves icy-cold grown-up beverages!

Cool! Looking forward to getting there!! I loooooove icy-cold-grown-up beverages!!

Also on the agenda is a Girls’ Night for D, E and me. Gramma offered to babysit so we can get out for an evening and we gratefully accepted! We’ll decide just what we’ll be doing once there, but have it narrowed down to one of these:
*EP for drinks and Illuminations, followed by some Boardwalk time
*Downtown Disney for drinks and shopping
*Drinks at the Poly beach, watching the Electrical Water pageant and Wishes

Anyone see the common theme throughout?

Hmmmm...common theme, common theme....think, think, think....

So our days look like this:
5/1 MK morning, then hang at the AKL pool before dinner at Boma
5/2 meet up with D at MGM, then head to CSR before dinner at Ohana
5/3 Typhoon Lagoon, followed by some down time and Girls’ Night
5/4 MK baybee!, then some pool time and dinner at Concourse Steakhouse
5/5 EP all day, lunch at Biergarten and dinner, maybe dessert instead at Coral Reef.
5/6 our last day… my family will start out at either MK or AK (Leo’s choice), then head to EP with lunch at Garden grill. D and family will go to AK all day.

Hmmmm...do I see some gray areas in your schedule? Is this the KGM touring plan???:confused3

I, of course, have my daily touring plans all worked out. I’ve got this handy-dandy system for keeping track of them: rolodex cards! Yep, I print out the days’ plans, glue them to rolodex cards, insert into rolodex plastic sleeves, tape em’ shut and string them onto a keychain. Low tech you say? Absolutely. But darned affective – I can pull the cards out and change things as needed! Look for yourselves…
461433753_c803b6ee97.jpg

Notice how the itinerary’s already changed since I took this pic?!

This is why I love this woman!

And just the reason why you should NOT, I repeat NOT laminate this early Tracy!!!:rotfl:

As for Gramma.... Gramma likes to pack at the last minute, bringing enough clothing to last 3 weeks. She also brings a ton of food. As if we might starve at WDW??? I don’t know, but when we went to Paris, her bag arrived at Charles de Gaulle airport with a giant tag warning that it was extremely heavy. When we unpacked at the hotel I discovered why: she’d packed 2 6-packs of soy milk, 2 boxes of South Beach bars, and a 12 pack of peanut butter crackers. I always leave plenty of room in the car for Gramma’s luggage.:rolleyes1

Oh no...I can just see you lugging that suitcase AGAIN...

How funny with the snacks...I do that for Michael, but OMG...not like that! My mom, Nana and Aunt came down - remember? and their bags (just their carryons) weighed as much as their checked bags...

Of course, Nana's was also filled with napkins, forks, spoons, sugar packets, and straws from every food stand in the Albany and Charlotte airports...

I guess we’re ready to go! :woohoo: Now, to get through the next 3 days… 3 days using V’s Fuzzy Disney calendar, that is ;)

I so looking forward to the TR when you get back...and I'm really hoping your friends are able to have a wonderful trip and maybe forget about life for awhile:hug:

Ok, umm.....EEEEWWWWWWWW :scared:

Oh, I wish we had time for the water parks. BUT, TFI they are building a Pirate themed water park a mere 5 minutes from our house to be completed this summer!! I'm so excited. Hey, you guys should come visit Cali! :goodvibes

How nice of Gramma!! :thumbsup2

 You're a DISer and without a spreadsheet??? We must fix this situation.
You could get it cut at Disney!
Uh... NO!! I've seen their "do's" - I'm looking for "edgy", not "crazy"!
Mai-tai suggest some color? Maybe a few chunky highlighted pieces would give it the "edge" you're looking for? :confused3
Great idea - sadly not possible. Well, it's possible, but not plausible. No, that's not right, either. What I'm tryin' to say is I ahve to color my grey roots every two weeks. The highlights start looking pretty sad after that first touch up and get progressively worse. They alos cause huge amounts of damage, since the existing color has to be stripped first. Not a pretty sight. :sad2:

A Pirate water park? Cooool! If I can ever drag myself away from WDW, I'm there! :rotfl:

By all means - it's not theft, it's using your resources! :thumbsup2

Okay, I'm felling alittle better now. At least I know it's not just my mother! Of course, you know what that means... it might be all of us, too, some day!

Thanks guys! And I'll add that this system's been tested - it worked GREAT in December:thumbsup2

Good for you!! Just remember, it's for their own good. ;)

And you actually have as many black shoes as I do! For some reason, I only wear about 3 of them.
Isn't that funny? I always feel ridiculous buying a pair of black shoes, knowing how many I already have. But I honestly wear them all! The pointiest toes look great with wide-leg pants, while the rounded toe works with a couple pencil skirts. Open toes with straight leg pants and wedges with A-line skirts. And so it goes....:rolleyes1
No one keeps their spreadsheets on their PDA?
I actually tried using my PDA one trip, but it was a huge pain to pull out, click on stuff, turn the bell on/off.... I do better with paper.
You know, I think I'm on the list for a croc myself in August...Wherever the heck the list is this week:confused3 ...I'll have to go look!
Hope it's not Freddie! :rolleyes1 You'll see....

Listen, I only shared my experience, I don't control the weather! That's the job of Pudge. ;)

No, no, no... you can always hit AK at a better time of year, don't do it!

Yes, ma'am - that's the only way I roll anymore! Plus, little B keeps changing his daily schedule, so we ahve no idea what to expect. We're approaching each day with hitting stuff early, then evaluating B's temprament: if he's ready for an afternoon nap, we'll do some stuff later in the evening. If he stays up, we'll keep going through the afternoon and make it an early night.

Lauralee131 said:

Nuh-uh, this time we've got a resort with elevators! And Gramma can put it in the car herself. V has spoken.

3 days!! WooHoo!! Can't wait to read about how it all went. Enjoy! :)

Now wait a minute... I'm not gone YET!!!

That sounds just like my DH's grandmother. Really, we have enough duck sauce, thanks.
