Oh what to do? GF, POFQ, or POR???

I have no idea what to do. We currently have reservations for 2 nights at all-star movies for before the wedding and 5 nights at the GF for our honeymoon. Well.......we have decided that we'd like to stay at disney through Christmas (adding 4 nights) and then take the kids with us to Savannah for a few days (they will be with their dad in Ft lauderdale until the 26th). So, we checked into pricing...no way can we afford another 4 nights at the GF...in fact we can't really afford anything else after 5 nights at GF so we are considering changing to one of the PO resorts. The problem is...I REALLY want to stay at the GF! We could do two nights at the GF and 7 nights at PO for the same price as the 5 nights at the GF. But DF found out that if we stayed at PO for all 9 nights then we'd actually be saving $1000. I like the idea of saving the money but I really don't want to give up the GF. I've never stayed anywhere other than the value resorts so I know that either hotel would be wonderful...but it's our honeymoon and the GF is just soooo romantic. For those who did stay at a PO resort for their honeymoon, was it romantic and wonderful? Which would be better POFQ or POR? I know I'm overthinking this but some unbiased opinions would really help. Thank you so much!!!!

I've never stayed at PO, but my dad has, and he and his fiancee thought it was very nice.

That being said, I'm behind you 100% with wanting to stay at least a couple of nights at GF. It's your Honeymooooon!

My hubbie and I stayed at POR for our honeymoon and we loved it there....however, if I had had the money to stay even ONE night at the GF I would have.....i've always wanted to stay there. Just my 2 cents

DF and I will be staying at POR for our Disneymoon. Our decision to stay there was based a lot on our financial restrictions right now. We registered on the Disney Honeymoon Registry and got a lot of contributions that we weren't expecting. We thought about upgrading to The Yacht or Beach Club, but ultimately decided to keep our ressies at POR. We've agreed that we're going to go back next year for our one year anniversary and splurge at The GF. After all the costs going into the wedding, we know we'll be in a better place next year financially so we won't hesitate to go for the gold! I'm sure whatever decision you make you won't regret. Its Disney!

Diane, I totally understand your dilemma but this is your wedding & honeymoon - I would say if there is any way to swing the 2 nights at the GF , then absolutely go for it because you will always regret not having spent some time there. JJ and I are staying at GF for 3 nights before changing venues for the remainder of the time..I too have always wanted to stay there and our honeymoon seems to be a perfect fit.

I understand the prospect of saving $$$ too but like I said, if you can swing it.......

I can see your dilemma. Now I have stayed at all of the resorts and I am not a HUGE fan of GF BUT I think everyone owes it to themselves to have stayed there at least once and for you ESPECIALLY because this is your HONEYMOON you just have to do it. Spend your two nights at GF and the rest of the vacation at PO. I know you may save $1000 but what is the thousand dollars compared to the memory of staying somewhere you have dreamed of? Just a thought! Good luck in your decision

Well...that settles it...2 nights at the GF it is!! I would rather stay three nights but then our check in date at PO would fall during holiday season instead of value season making the hotel $65 more a night. Now let's keep our fingers crossed for a passholder discount!! I am so happy that we'll be staying longer and really look forward to enjoying our first Christmas as husband and wife at Disney! Now...should we sat at POFQ or POR????? I like the FQ rooms better but the grounds of Riverside seem more romantic. Opinions???

Congrats with your decision on where to stay! We've stayed at all the resorts and I love POR. Along with WL it's our favorite resort. Like Belle1981, we're not big fans of GF but I understand why others like it. We've stayed at POR in the Magnolia Bend section and found it very romantic. The grounds are nice for walks and spending quiet moments together. I think that POFQ has more of a fun/party/festive feel to it. Just my 2 cents!
