Cast: Me30, DH32, DD3, DD8mo., My Mom50, My Dad55, supposed to be My Sister 26
Day 1
I originally planned to teach half the day, but quickly decided against that when I realized how much I had to do before we left the house at noon. A little background: my sister and her husband (bil is in airforce..station in FWB, FL) are unable to have children. They have been married almost 4 yrs. Anyway...my sis calls me on our way to the airport (she was supposed to fly out of Pensecola the day after to meet us in WDW) and tells me that she cannot make the trip. I thought she was pulling my leg until I got the entire story. My sister is the accountant for their church (about 1,100 people). That morning, a landlord had brought a 10 mo. old little girl named Athena to the pastor, telling him that she had been abandoned by her mother (who was obviously a tenant in the bldg.). Turns out she (the mother) had left Athena with another tenant for almost 2 weeks. To make a long story short: my sis and bil now have custody of Athena, and they are looking for the mother...still can't find her. They have hopes of adopting her, if the mother gives up her rights or if she doesn't show up after a certain period of time. So, Aunt Ava was unable to make the trip with us, but we still had a wonderful time. My mom and dad cried just about all the way to the airport (tears of joy, of course), and needless-to-say, we were all a bit pre-occupied with our new news. We flew out of Baton Rouge at 2:25 and arrived in MCO at 5:15. We jumped on Magic Express (which was great) and POP was our second stop. We were checked in by 6:30 p.m. I am going to put a POP review on the hotels board, but all in all, it was wonderful! We left for Chef Mickey's at 6:55 for our 7:40 ADR, and we barely made it, but we did. (I'll also include a food review on the dining board). Mom and Dad then took Sara Beth (DD8mo.) back to the room and Mike and I took Loren (DD3) into Magic Kingdom for EMH. That was a great call, b/c we just about WALKED on everything. We rode Winnie the Pooh, Dumbo, Indy, Small World...in less than an hour. We headed back to the room after a long day. Loren was asleep before we even made it back.
Day 2: Animal Kingdom
We left for AK about 9 a.m., so much for being there when it opened. Took about 20 min. to get there from POP after the short bus wait. We headed to Dinoland and sent Mike to get FP for Safaris. We rode TSpin in Dinoland 5 times with NO WAIT!!! We then headed to ride Kali and it scared my DD3 to death! She hates to have water splashed on her, so I should have known. Nothing else scared her...she loved the Barnstormer, but she was in tears on Kali. My mom sat out with the baby. We had ponchos for the ride, which were LIFESAVERS, b/c the weather was nice, but a little cool if you're wet. We then headed to the Safaris, which I thought was nice, but not what everyone made it out to be...we waited 10 min. with the FP, but I would have not wanted to wait the posted 60 minutes. We then grabbed lunch at Tusker House (decent) and headed over to Lion King. The show was still 45 min. away, so we watched a side show of singers. They were great! We waited in line for the Lion King about 25 minutes...to get the good seats, and boy, did we get them. They were great! My DD3 was a little scared of the "darker" part of the show, but she did okay. After the Lion King, everyone was tired, so we headed back to the room. Hate that we missed the parade, but the kids were worn out.
We went back to the room for a rest, and then headed to EPCOT about 5 p.m. We went to Soarin to see if we could get FP and we did!!! We then ate at the Electric Umbrella (suprisingly VERY good) and headed over to ride Soarin. Mom sat out with 2 kids, but we got a Parent Swap in the event that she would want to ride and I'm glad we did. My Dad, Mike and I rode Soarin. I was speechless. AMAZING!!! WONDERFUL!!! Like nothing I have EVER experienced!!! I told my mom that she HAD to ride it, so I sat out with the girls while she, dad and Mike went to ride it. She loved it as much as I did. We all still talk about that ride.
After that, we headed back for the room. It had been a long, but great day. Soarin' was definitely the highlight of that day (and one of the highlights of the trip).
Tomorrow was going to be EPCOT again and then MVMCP!!! Oh Boy!!!
Stay Tuned!!!
By the way...I have tons of pictures but I have not been able to get them on photobucket yet. I will post them in another thread later...
