Chef Mickeys vs. Crystal Palace for breakfast?!?

First in the ring: Chef Mickeys. A place we have never been to. Looking forward to getting character autographs. Definitely want to have some smoked salmon (lox) with my eggs! But does it have it?! Oh no! If going here, we would make a 7:15 a.m. ADR then head over to MK.

Next in the ring: Crystal Palace. A place we went to lunch but nothing else. Took pictures of the characters before. Needs to try that puffed french toast. As the same with CM's, definitely want to have some lox with my eggs! But again.... does it have it?! Ahhh! And if going there, would like to make a 8:05 a.m. ADR and head over to rope drop.

I should also mention that we are going to CRT for breakkie earlier in the week (or vice versa). We lurve breakfast places!

Thanks for any replies in advanced!

There's no choice! We have been to both. Chef Mickey's. Hands down. (Although Crystal Palace is great!) There is nothing like Chef Mickey's!!!

For us, Crystal Palace would win outright. It was the first restaurant we ever ate at in WDW, so it holds a special meaning. :)

If you've never been to Chef Mickeys I would go there. It is a lot of fun and the food is pretty good! :)

The ambiance of Chef Mickey's leaves a lot to be desired. Although watching the monorails go past is really cool. I also prefer the characters at Chef Mickeys, all my favorites.

Having said that I would lean towards Crystal Palace. Love getting into the park before everyone else, great photo opps. Plus you can be a little ahead of everyone else for the rope drop. Plus I like the CP building, it's really pretty in there (though the seating can be a bit squished)

Food wise, I honestly couldn't tell you the differences, I'm sure there are some, but all the breakfast buffets seem a much of a muchness to me. I have seen smoked salmon at breakfast but can"t remember where (90% sure it was at Chef Mickeys in October)

UGH we hate Chef Mickey's Even the kids hated it. We tried it twice and both times it was awful. Food was cold. eggs overcooked, potatoes hard. Just gross. I know many love it to us it stunk.
Honestly with the surcharge at the character meals during the summer I am protesting and not doing any of them. But out of the 2 you listed I vote Crystal Palace.

We love Crystal Palace, the food was excellent and so was the service. I have never been to Chef Mickeys, and since the price increase we won't.

I voted for CP since that would be my hands-down choice. But if I were you, I'd probably try CM once. It's a fun atmosphere and worth doing once, but the food is definitely more delicious (and the atmosphere a lot more relaxing) at CP.

I have eaten all 3 meals at Crystal Palace and been very pleased. I've had only dinner at Chef Mickey's, and didn't think the food was anything special. As someone else mentioned, there's nothing particularly pretty about its location at the Contemporary, whereas the Crystal Palace is beautiful.

I would vote for Chef Mickey's -- my rule of thumb is to try new places on every trip -- you've never been and it sounds like a lot of fun!

My family votes Crystal Palace. In fact we are skipping Chef Mickey this time. We just don't get what the fuss is about this place. We can see the characters at some of our other meals and get better character interaction and better food!
