oh, THE HORROR, another stroller question!

Ok, OK, don't flame me please!!! I just want to know if any one has tried those clips they sell that attach two umberella strollers together...
I am torn between my GINORMOUS GracoDuoGlide stroller for my 3 year old and 1 year old or just getting 2 fairly decent umberella strollers that have a bit of a recline and clipping them together. But, I remember when my 3 year old was smaller the umberella stroller was hard on the back of his legs...

I have thought about this too, but have decided to suck it up an take our quattro tour duo. The kids are just comfortable in it and since they will be spending an ENORMOUS amount of time in it, I just don't want to risk them being uncomfortable. We have flown with it before with ease. The only time I think we will not enjoy having it is lugging it onto the busses. It weighs 62lbs. We are heading down next month so I will let you know how it goes.

I know it's a pain to take the bigger stroller on the bus, but your 1 yr old will be more comfy in the big stroller.

I also think you will be happier pushing the big one than two smaller ones that have little or no storage. The big one will have drink holders and a big basket.

We have twins and when they were about 18 months old we purchased two lightweight strollers and those clips thinking we could use them like a twin stroller when we wanted and split up when we wanted.... WRONG.

As long as you want to go in a straight line, and the wheels started lined up that way AND you have three arms they work great.

We're taking a Maclaren Twin, which is relatively small on the double scale, but I'll tell you - I did consider borrowing my friend's Graco Quattro Duo. That thing is just so plush for their little selves. But for me there are two kickers - the lugging onto/off of the bus, AND the manueverability (specifically lack therof) in shops and crowds. While the stores in the parks are generally well spaced to accomodate strollers, that Graco just seems to go on forever. But then, my Maclaren is wider than the Graco.

Here's another thought. Your 1 year-old may not last very long in the evenings. But you and your husband may find youselves wishing you could stay at the parks/DTD longer. It seems like that Graco would be pretty magical as far as making them comfortable (and reclining?) enough to fall asleep and that would be a really priceless 'pro' on the list.

Now I want to go check CL for a big stroller - HA! Good luck to you & either way, you'll all have a blast!

OK!!! well, I don't have three arms, and I did think that I would like having the ability to split them apart if I wanted, Our graco is just at such an awkward height/ angle that it makes DD and my backs hurt pushing it after too long. Our older single Graco had an adjustable handle, love that one, hate the double and can't really afford a newer one... sigh!

Why don't you take the bigger single Graco and get a cheap umbrella for your older child? DH and I always push a stroller each and I find that so much easier than a ginormous double stroller.

And to your question about the clips, I had them and as app mentioned, they are only good for going in a straight line, turns are VERY annoying.

I would, but we are also travelling with DD14, so we are going to be doing a lot of Baby'swapping so she can ride the fun rides(otherwise, well let's just put it this way:cranky teenage girl=$$$ just to get her to stop whining), and I think trying to push 2 seperate strollers alone would be difficult!!!

We do the baby swap too, but for my older son to go on the rides. So his stroller is empty and we just park it. I'm not sure you could push two strollers....lol. Good luck!!

I agree with the post about the strollers working great when you go in a straight line but it is really hard to stear them at all. It can be done but not well.

we use the clamps and after a few years of practice we've found that "popping a wheelie" is the easiest way to turn them. they can be a pain, but we still use them b/c we often split up with the kids.

My kids are a bit older but we bought a Joovy Caboose off of Craigslist. We opted NOT to bring our ginormous double. My oldest is also 4.5, so a bit big for it anyway. We also opted not to bring two of our singles. We have a Maclaren Quest and Chicco Tuscany. My older DD fits in the Maclaren but often puts her feet on the wheels which makes it a PITA to steer. My younger DD is fine in either stroller. We decided that it would be a hassle to push two strollers around all day. Clips are not an option for us - the strollers are not identical and I don't see the point of complicating steering. So we decided on getting a joovy. We can always re-sell it when we get back, but this way we have one stroller for both of them that isn't as heavy as most doubles, that isn't wide, and that allows the older child to jump off and on.

I only tried the clips once. They sucked so bad I didn't even try it again. I couldn't make it 10ft into lowes!

We got the clips and used them only when we parked the strollers outside of main rides/shows so if they were moved, they would at least still be together! Didn't use them walking around the parks, kinda tricky like others have said.

I just sold an older stroller (four years old) on craigslist for $30 -- it was $300 brand new. Check there and see if there's something in your area you can get a deal on.

if it is an option for you you could rent one of the BJ city mini doubles - I think orlandostrollerrentals.com has them for like $85 for 7 nights not sure if that worls for you but they are a breeze to push, higher handles, full reclines, great sunshades. I have a city elite singel and have loved it since the day I got it. and it has the easiest fold of any stroller i know. the rental places drop it off at the hotel and will pick it up from there too. YOu wouldn't have to worry about having it on the airplane. just a thought.
