After reading the recent reviews of the poly Im nervous about our upcomming stay!!
Should we switch to yacht or Beach??? Or do you think it is isolated cases??
Thanks!! Tnk!!:)

I just read a report raving about the Poly. I don't think you need to be concerned. It seems like things run in cycles with one resort or another getting a bunch of "bad vibes" here on the DIS but at the same time folks coming back with good things to say.

Not sure why you're upset (I've been at WDW staying at YC) We loved our resort, but we have an almost 13 yr old DD and 17yr old DS. We had dinner at Ohana on Christmas and LOVED it. Better than any meal we have EVER (after 15 trips as a family) had at WDW!!!!!!!!. As far as the resort, we were supposed to stay there this time (a dream of mine since when I went to WDW the year the park opened) We had a great rate for CONCIERGE!! (another dream). But alas, there are NO HOT TUBS at the Poly. This was the ONLY reason I switched ressies. Now, after eating there, and seeing who was staying there I am glad I did. The Poly IMHO, is for couples, or families with small children. Both my kids loved the YC (they loved the food at Poly). I don't know if it is because we have been to many Islands or the fact that the YC seemed soooooo spacious (even at Christmas). If you have kids under 12 go to Poly, anyone older, head to an Epcot resort (although my 17yr old son in dying to stay at Contemporary. I told him when he gets married and has kids, his father and I will splurge for a tower room (and keep the kids in our room LOL). Enjoy!

Thanks guys!! :) :)
I was thinking last night (trying to calm myself!! lol lol :))
And thought about the "waves" of negative comments about All the hotels, And I think it seems to be more prevelant durring the winter and summer holidays!! Maybe its because its more crowed??!!
Well Im not quite as freaked out as I was yesterday!! lol lol (Such a horrible thing to be freaked out about isnt it??!! lol Poly or Yacht and beach!??????? lol lol lol :):) );)

You will love the Polynesian. It is such a peaceful, relaxing resort. My kids range in age from 4-18 and the Polynesian is their favorite resort. We stayed at the BC on our last trip and ended up switching resorts after the 1st night because it just wasn't a resort for us. My point is, each person will have different opinions on different resorts. Thank goodness we don't all like the same resorts or they would be very crowded. Go and enjoy!

tnkrbell, my family has stayed at the Poly 10 times and we have never had one complaint. It is our absolute favorite resort. I am 24, and have stayed there since I was 2 yrs. old and my DF and I will be staying there for our Fairytale Wedding next November. I think that each resort has isolated incidents and CMs that have bad days, etc..(not that there is any excuse for it). You shouldn't be nervous at all. It is wonderful there!
Enjoy!

You guys Rock!! :) :)
Leave it to the Dis to make me calm down!! :) :)
I agree every Cm and Every resort has its good and bad and yes if we all liked the same resort it would be very crowded!!! lol llol :)

I will never ever again stay at the Polynesian. I was just there for 16 nights. My 17 year old dd almost got attacked outside of the cafe. Turns out a man had been upstairs in the bar drinking, but he had already been in a very bad fight somewhere. The bar tender continue to serve him. He was in bad shape, blood from head to toe. Then this man saw my dd in the cafe and started to follow her. Thank God their was a NY city police officer there on vacation and he saved her. Disney did move us over to The Contempary. very nice there. I am sorry to post this, but I never would have thought this would have happened in Disney.

Turns out the man had been a fight and was thrown thru a glass plated window. How can a bar tender serve a person like that. he did call security only when it was closing time and the man had "NO MONEY" Give me a break, it was all about the money.

Calm down!!:D Trying a new resort is so much fun. There isn't a resort on property that hasn't had a bad review on these boards. Have a great time! Your daughter will love riding the monorail to the MK.:D

This year when I went Poly was one of the hotels I stayed at. I was nervous, it is so old and hearing it had a moldy smell but I booked it anyways and figured i would be the judge of it. I loved the Poly, it was clean, CM were very friendly and looking out our door at the castle was a nice sight. I'm sure you will like it too. :D

I dont know if this will help you or not, but we absolutely love the Poly! Whether its the breathtaking view from the beach, the easy transportation, the yummy Kona Cafe, or just the whole atmosphere there, I feel it just cant be beat. The only thing I dont like about it is the price, because I cant afford it for every trip. For now, we just usually spend 1 night at a time there so we can get some of the Poly feel.
Be sure to check out the torch lighting ceremony if you happen to be around the resort at 6:00pm.

I too am anxiously awaiting our trip to the Poly. I do not however have any hesitation as to switching resorts.

MsDisney23- First let me say how horrifying for your daughter!! That said, though, I don't think you can blame the entire resort for the irresponsible actions of one bartender. Forget not serving him, if a person is sitting at my bar bleeding from head to toe, I'd call for medical attention as well! I am glad that Disney made the move to the CR for your sanity as well as your daughter's welfare. Do you know was the drunk a guest at the Poly??

a stay which we split between the Polynesian & the YC.

We loved them both! DH loved Polynesian even more because it felt more like a resort. He felt the YC felt more like th hotels he stays in when he travels.

I loved being at both... being MK centered at the beginning of our vacation, and Epcot centered toward the end.

Try it! You'll like it!

I'm 13 and stayed at the Polynesian for the first time in early November. I loved it! My mom, who is a big Hawaii fan herself, couldn't get over how much the resort truly did resemble the real thing. I would not hesitate to stay there again. The location, atmosphere, service, food (Kona Cafe- yum yum), smells, etc. all made it a terrific stay. I also couldn't believe how spacious our room was (in Tokelau) when we switched from the WL. Of course, everyone has opposing views, so it is natural that not everyone love the Polynesian! Personally, my favorite resort is the BC because of childhood memories of being there all the time- it's my mom's favorite resort. We are also big fans of Nantucket, so we loved the theming. Therefore, the YC seems like a good choice to me too. However, the Polynesian could be a better resort for you, so definitely stay there! I know you will love it regardless of whether it turns out to be your favorite resort or not. Enjoy your trip!
