In addition to my last post on our not positive expirence on vwl and bcv...none of our room request were met.We were told at check in that it is luck of the draw and based on what they have at check in.

Luck of the draw? Since when? Nobody says this when we make our ressies with MS. We are going to OKW Jan 1, we''ll see what happens. All we ask is Turtle Pond and non-smoking.

who is this person?

can we just ignore him/her?

If that last comment was directed at me,Im sorry if you disagree with me ,but these were my honest feelings after a trip to what has been and remains my favorite vacation site.I belive both negative and positive posts are welcome on this site.

If you want to ignore chicago641, I'm sure you can do so without declaring your intentions in such a dismissive way.

The rest of us who are interested in bad reports as well as good will keep reading. I think the posters complaints have seemed valid and not over the top.

I agree that chicago641 has every right to express his opinion. For those of you who only like to read sugar-coated posts, ignore the negative ones by passing them over, but don't be verbally rude and dismissive. Everyone has a right to express their opinion here, even if it is not a positive one. He was simply expressing (and rightfully so) his dissatisfaction with accommodations. Don't be so quick to judge! There. That's my 2cents.

I appreciate your comments Chicago641- we just purchased DVC with our home being VWL, but unlike you, ours was not "sight unseen." We love the decor there and I have to wonder if that put you off too???? I know it's not everyone's taste. I'm only wondering since you made a point to say sight unseen, if that bothered you as well?

I do appreciate your informing us of the condition of the room. If I checked in and my room was that disgusting, I'd be going to the front desk right away and letting them know I would be by the pool until they put the room in a satisfactory condition!!!!!!!!!!!!

I admit I have run into problems with accomodations and service at Disney resorts, (not DVC, cuz Jan will be our first trip) but every time I politely brought it to their attention, and ALWAYS they have bent over backwards to put the situation right for me! I expect no less from DVC, since their efforts were a large part of my choice to purchase with DVC.

Since you say that none of your requests were met, then I am assuming that your request of smoking or nonsmoking was not met at either resort. That is awful. It sounds like you really did have some terrible bad luck on this trip. We had been to DVC resorts about a dozen times and have always had our nonsmoking request met. Hopefully you will give DVC another chance. I can't imagine that this type of thing would happen again.

chicago641,
I appreciated your report as well. I have said this before, I believe one of the reasons that most people enjoy nice accomodations is because folks speak up when there is a problem--if we didn't say anything, then the problem would remain unchecked. So, I thank you for going to the trouble to get the problem resolved.

I am really sorry that your trip was marred by all the things that went wrong. We bought into BCV sight unseen, too. I am not sure how I will like only trash and tidy every 4 days. At home, we use a clean towel after each shower... and I hate to think of recycling the towels. DH, however told me not even to think about ordering the extra mousekeeping service each day as he doesn't want it (still haven't figured out how the towels will magically appear each day, though-LOL Maybe DH still believes in the towel fairy). We have stayed at HH (2BRunit) 1 night--(very beautiful unit) and OKW (2BR unit 2 nights--with just 3 of us, we didn't run out of towels :) and again--very beautiful unit ). The test will be the end of this month when there are 4 of us in a 2br for 4 days! DH said something about bringing beach towels along-- and perhaps we will order the extra towels.....

I wish you would give DVC another try, too. I would hope what you experienced is way out of the normal.

-DC :)

Dcfromva, if you will be in a two bedroom DVC unit, then you will have a washer & dryer. For us the washer & dryer is a plus while on vacation. First it means we can bring less clothes (ok, I'll admit we still overpack!). Secondly we usually throw in a load of wash after we get "home" at night. Sometimes it goes in the dryer the same night or in the morning when we wake up. You might throw in a load of towels in the morning before heading out. Then you could throw them in the dryer as soon as you return. We sometimes use our beach towels as bath towels - no big deal to us.

I safe a 20 oz or so plastic soda bottle & fill it with my liquid detergent. When the bottle is empty, I recycle it as WDW. I also throw a few dryer sheets into a baggie to be packed for our stay.

Chicago641, what requests did you make with your reservation that were not met?
