I just noticed on the allears website that the Pop Warner thing will be going on from Dec. 3-9....of course we'll be there from Dec. 4-10. How bad is this going to be??? I feel like such an idiot for not checking before but I'm not sure it would have made a difference. We planned this trip months ago when my husband got his vacation....

Is anyone else scared now too???

BE AFRAID.BE VERY AFRAID. NOW.......CLEAR YOUR MIND,IT KNOWS WHAT SCARES YOU.

We were at the BC last year during Pop Warner. Never would have known they were there, except for these boards. Their presence was not a factor in the parks at all. Now if you are staying at one of the AS or POR, I might consider a room change, but othewise, it is a non-issue.

Thank you Mickey Fliers for your response....I was sitting here contemplating changing our entire vacation because I had visions of thousands of preteens running wild going through my head. That makes me feel much better. We're staying at POR because we couldn't get DVC so we should be ok.

Thanks again!

Don't worry - we were there at the same time last year and didn't notice any excessive crowds. You will have a great time - it's a lovely time of year to go.

I've been there during that time, staying at BWV. They don't make a big difference in the park crowds. However, I believe some do stay at POR, so the pools and food court may be crowded.

Do not worry, unless their parents are DVC members they won't be staying at DVC resorts.

We saw a lot of them at POR a couple of years ago.

We have done the first 2 weeks of December several times (doing it again this year), and the first week crowds are a bit more than the second week crowds because of the Pop Warner, but most times it isn't an issue, especially if you steer clear of the MK that first week.

I had some friends staying at All Stars Sports in 2005. They said that four letter words were flying everywhere at the pool, a fist fight broke out in the lobby and a guest who spoke French was sent to the hospital, "hang up" phone calls were placed to their room at 2 in the morning, and pre-teen and teens would pound on the door at 2 am and run. When they complained at the front desk the "clerk" (because she couldn't have been a castmember) said that they shouldn't have stayed at a "budget" resort. Pretty insulting and sad. If Disney's going to have Pop Warner kids at their resorts, they should not have other guests and their families at the same resort -- just my humble opinion.

Having said that, I think you are ok at a DVC resort and we'll be going December 6 to 10, and we're not worried!

Disney is at the point now there is some group there every week. I go every Mardi Gras so I get the girl dance teams each year. I will trade you girl dance teams for pop warner anyday. Those girls can be mean. :rotfl2:

I will also chime in and say we go every year during some major Cheerleading event. And for the most part the kids are good and fairly well behaved. We are also DVC, and have never seen them at any of the resorts-so hopefully you will be fine. We did have one bad experience where a hord of cheerleaders were running with hands held, and weren't watching where they were going and ignored the fact that they were in a crowd at MGM, and ran my kids over-literaly. Of course I had a few harsh words for them(that specific group). But other than that...they were fine. But then again I was not staying at POR or a Value hotel.

POR & POFQ will get some of the PW families - might want to switch to CBR or CSR??? I find that since CSR is also a convention hotel, it tends to be a little more adult-oriented - JMHO!!!

I've been there during this time and didn't really notice them in the parks too much.

After reading what goes on at the resort, though, I would definitely change where I was staying!

Good luck!

I've been many times during that time and the only time it has really bothered me was the crowds at MGM the day Pop was having their special event at night. I figured they would go somewhere else and head to MGM that night - WRONG! I've never encountered wait times like that day (just checked my trip report - it was Friday Dec 9, 2006) The year we stayed at Dixie Landings - it was the non stop cheering that got to us.

Other than that - never bothered by it

We were at AS sports during that time last year and while it was noticeable with a lot of kids running around, it was not a problem.

We've been during both seasons, but haven't had any issues.

Two years ago, we were at PORFQ during cheerleading. We didn't see any of them at POR, but we did see them in the parks -- little packs of giggling, happy, excited girls, but certainly not a problem for us. It was actually fun watching them have such a great time.

Last December, we were at OKW during Pop. We didn't even know they were in town, although we didn't go to MGM, so that may be why.

Pick a week, and there is something going on at Disney.

I was there in April and there were national championships for high school cheerleading teams down there then, as well as high school bands from across the nation. There really wasn't a problem, that I saw at least. I teach high school so I am around that age group all the time, I even had a few good conversations with the kids. Most that I saw stayed at AS and the Downtown Disney hotels like the Holiday Inn, etc. I agree with another poster who said if you are at AS then it might be an issue because that is the hot spot for groups. It is hard with the middle school aged kids because they feel really mature and independent (and we know they're not), and they notoriously do things without thinking to get attention (like the phone calls, knock at the doors, running through the park holding hands). POR you may be okay, especially if more families are staying there. Preteens and teens without enough chaperones like at AS=trouble.

Just curious we will be there at this time. With a preschooler and were going to MGM a couple days?

Are the compitiions there at MGM?? :confused3

We were there last year. It was not a problem at all. We stayed at BWV though. I heard there were some "issues" at the Value resorts, mostly from the boards.

In the parks, we saw small groups of pre-teen cheerleaders with a couple of adults per group. They were very well behaved and hard to miss. They all had on the same shirts, mouse ear head bands, etc. and were in groups of 10 or 12. We did not see any of the football players. Or, if we did, we didn't notice them.
