OK, I'm getting worried now. We're due to fly out of Toronto on Friday at 10:15 am ....and now we've go this storm brewing right now. They say a lot of snow on Thursday and Friday. I'm sooooo stressed right now thinking about this. :(

I dunno what to think.

they just posted a traveler's advisory - call them now to make alternate arrangements - without penalty - if you're flying from YYZ:)

Depends on who you listen to. The Weather Channel isn't predicting nearly as much!!!

I'm flying WestJet. :( I hope the Weather Channel is right. I hope it's another one of these...get ready for the end of the world forecasts only to have it skirt by us to the south or to the north.

Sending PD that the storm will miss TO. Keeping my fingers crossed that it all stays south of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario! Have a great trip!

Hopefully things at the airport won't be as bad since they know about the storm ahead of time and have a chance to prepare. And usually the reports make things worse than they really will be. In any case, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you :goodvibes

i heared on my way into work that there are delays at Pearson on arrivals and departures. They are advising that you call your airline for flights tonight. I hope that everything clears up for you for tomorrow. Sending you lots of Pixie dust. :wizard:

Well, the Orlando to Toronto WestJet flight arrived this afternoon at 4:51...the snow was pretty bad then (I was driving in it so I know!) so at least they're landing.

We got an email from WestJet with the weather advisory saying we could change our flight to Saturday...but our car and resort is booked for tomorrow and I've got ADRs for Boma on Saturday evening (Saturday was AK day for us...seems like AK day is cursed...last time AK day was a wash out...torrential rain and all).

I guess we'll take our chance with tomorrow. Since the flight isn't going to another city with a snow storm, we might be ok. They just gotta clear the snow and deice the plane. I can live with a delay. A cancellation on the other hand will make me burst into tears!

We thought about booking a room at the Sheraton Gateway tonight and then just walking over to the terminal but the driving tonight will probably be worse than tomorrow morning. We also thought about booking a room there tomorrow in case we get stuck there for more than a few hours....but the price was too high :(

Thanks for your well wishes on the weather. And with any luck and a bit of a clearing, I'll be watching Illuminations tomorrow evenng and not my television. :)

That happened to us last year. The AC flight was supposed to leave at 8:55 pm or something like that and it was delayed for about 3 hours. We got into our hotel in Orlando at around 3 in the morning, but we were in Florida!!!!

Sorry OT - but has anyone heard anything about any delays at BUF?
We have to drive from Peterborough, ON tomorrow morning to BUF (the weather here right now is SCARY :guilty:).

I feel like I am going to be ill, my stomach is in knots thinking about us doing this drive tomorrow morning.

We fly out of BUF (hopefully) Sat 7:20 am. I understand that there are delays now at YYZ but BUF is supposed to be MUCH worse.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

I know the feeling. I was useless at work today. I kept thinking about the stupid snow!! (I like a white Christmas but...not until I get back!!)

Right now, according to the Buffalo airport's website (a pretty sad site if you ask me), a bunch of flights are shown as delayed/cancelled or departed...in other words...it's a mixed bag. However, most of the snow is supposed to be coming later...while we're all asleep.

If your flight leaves at 7:20 on Saturday morning, I would just leave for Buffalo on Friday a little later in the day (noonish?) The storm is supposed to let up a bit by midmorning. The plows will be working throughout this time and you'll miss a rush hour traffic around the GTA. Saturday's weather looks to be a bit better than now.

I just called Southwest and they said that the weather by Saturday in the BUF area should be somewhat better, but I am just so worried about getting to BUF tomorrow.

DH is still at work in Lindsay (until around midnight tonight) and then has to drive home tonight. Then sleep and get up for the big drive tomorrow. He is as calm as a cucumber about the weather situation. But then again, he deals with things MUCH better then me.

pxlbarrel: Thanks for the advice. i am a basket case here tonight. good luck on your flight tomorrow am. Hopefully things will be better by the morning and the worst case is that you may have a minor delay.
yes, it is difficult to get info. from the BUF airport web site.

Just wanted to let you all know that I'm now in Orlando and we watched Illuminations last night!!!

We got to the airport real early yesterday morning because we overestimated the time it would take to get there. The roads and weather were CLEAR!!!

Unfortunately, they weren't clear in Montreal where our West Jet flight crew was coming from. Our 10:15 am flight left Toronto at 1:00 pm. My plans for grocery shopping before checking into the resort were quashed. On the bright side...because we were in a hurry to get to Epcot, we ended up eating dinner at Nine Dragons!! ha!

So our day went ok in the end. Now if we could just past the part of the weather forecast that says rain all week. LOL

Glad to hear that you got there okay pxlbarrel. I bet you couldn't believe you were watching Illuminations last night! Better rain than snow but hopefully that forecast will improve.

Have a wonderful time! Hope you will check in with some updates!

Oh, have so much fun!!!!

Glad you made it safe and sound:) Rain, rain, go away..the pxlbarrel's need to play! :teeth:

Glad you made it down :) I was expecting something much worse but I heard on the news that Toronto only got 15 cm and areas west of us got more.

I hope the weather improves down there, I'll keep my fingers crossed :)

Glad to hear things turned out okay. A three hour delay is much better than the alternative! Have fun and ignore the rain.
