Oh, no...rain every day?!?!?!

I have a little black rain cloud following my life, it appears. I just looked at the forecast for our trip, March 2nd - 8th. Except for our arrival date, it is looking like a lot of rainy days What do I need to bring to prepare for this?? I am going to grab some rain ponchos from dollar tree. Should I buy small umbrellas? Are they allowed in the parks???

Bring some ponchos and multiple pairs of shoes. Enjoy splashing in the puddles and enjoy the smaller crowds.

Don't worry about it yet. We're going the exact same dates and I've been watching the extended forecast since it started going far enough out to cover even the first day. It has ranged so far from 87 to 67 for the highs, sunny every day to rainy every day, and seems to change drastically every single morning.

March is the dry season in Florida. The odds of 6 consecutive days of rain are negligible. In fact, Wunderground's trip planner lists the most consecutive rainy days in their historical record (which goes back to mid-90s if I recall correctly) as 3.

Besides, right now the major weather sites don't even agree on the forecast - Accuweather's 15 day forecast has rain predicted for the whole week, but Weather Channel's 10 day forecast is showing sun for the 2nd & 3rd and Wunderground only has a 7 day long-range forecast so that one isn't available yet. This far out there's still a LOT of guesswork involved in the predictions.

Don't worry about the forecast.. I have a friend that lives in orlando and she always says that the sun is shining when the forcast says its a 100% chance of rain. I never look at the weather before I leave because it is never right..

We did not plan for rain our May 09 trip and it deluged from the moment we entered the park the first evening nearly through the day we left. Oh, there was one decent day. Every single other day we spent under cover, and making a run for the bus. I have gone when we needed ponchos and got around, but at least you could shake them off at some point. Not that trip, not sure if the middle of May is the rain season or not???

We were drenched, needed umbrellas and extra dry shoes. But that was an odd system that just hung. IT rained so much the pool at POR by the laundry flooded. We never swam. never got to walk to site, ended up spending time eating and shopping off site.

If we had prepared so we could at least walk to attractions it may have been better. On the next to last day we went to Animal Kingdom and stood under cover at the Safari and they closed the park from flooding.

I would look five days out next time and if it is another bad system, reschedule if I can. It may cost more, but really that last trip we had one day and 2 quarter days we actually enjoy.

The dollar store rain gear, tore the first wearing. We were better off when invested in the better wearing, also, a few umbrella's. AND Croc's or something that will dry.

Oh and the three tornado's that hit neighborhoods to the North and the flooded Daytona Speedway

I just checked accu weather. Not seeing rain , just lots of sun. Even if it did say rain, this is FLorida, weather changes about every 30 minutes around here. And yes umbrellas are allowed, in fact they sell them.

We were there during Tropical Storm Fay. Heavy, heavy rain - some days it was like a Monsoon. We adopted the attitude that a rainy day in Disney was better then a sunny day at home. And accepted that we were going to get wet.

We skipped $ store ponchos - they always rip. We brought our own raincoats from home - much more comfortable to wear. We wore sandals that could get wet and brought extra changes of shoes (I also had some of those water shoe type sneakers from Land's End).

The lines were short and we had a blast. Be prepared and have the right attitude and you will be fine!

Just thought I'd pop back in, in case you haven't checked the forecast this morning... Accuweather's forecast for the 2nd to 8th went from predicting rain every day yesterday to predicting sun every day today!

Don't stress, it is likely you will not actually be "in" that rain each and every day. Many times, they are off a bit....the ponchos are great, umbrella's are a no go tho...bring Xtra socks for sloshing thru and enjoy the vacation....even with some rain, Disney is better than the typical "home routine" Hope you get SUNSHINE!!

I know it's the case during the summer...not too sure about March. However, nearly every day during the Summer, it rains...for maybe about 10 to 15 minutes. Then the sun comes out again. I think you'll have sun for a very good portion of your trip.

It rained just about every day that we were there in Dec. '09. Just put on rain gear and go about your touring. Certain attractions will close (like Test Track) but almost all of them continue to run.

Just remember that a rainy day in Disney is still better than a rainy day at home! Enjoy your trip.

Little umbrellas as well as large ones are allowed in the parks. I always brought small ones in the stroller as well as a couple of ponchos from home, came in quite handy on a few trips! Good luck & try not to worry about the weather too much!!

We usually go to Disney every August. It rains every year, but we always have fun. Our favorite trip was one where it rained EVERY DAY!!! There may have been 2 days where it only rained 1/2 of the day We donned our rain ponchoes and set out for the parks. Lines were not that long so we managed to do everything we wanted. Take ponchos, umberellas and crocs if you have them. I hope it doesn't rain for you but if it does, look at it this way.
I am quoting someone else here "Rain is Nature's Fast Pass."

I was on a bus to MK one afternoon and it started to rain. When I arrived at the security check I actually asked if the park was closing early as so many people were leaving. The rain stopped 5 minutes after I arrived and I only stood in one line for 10 minutes the entire evening, everything else was a walk on.

I have told my story before but.....

Our best day ever at the MK it rained! It was really raining when we got up but we decided to go on to the MK. WE had done rain before so we were ready. It was cool but not too cold. We wore REAL ponchos (not $ store ones), with caps underneath , and crocks. We took dry clothes and rented a locker. Well, it was off season anyway and VERY few people came to the park. It was almost scary so few people. We walked onto everything. It stopped raining around 1pm, we dried off, stuck ponchos in locker and still almost no one was there. We looked horrible but who cared.

It's all about how you look at it!!!!

I would suggest spending just a little more on a stronger poncho like from Wal-mart or Target. For 4 or 5 bucks you can get some that actually cover you and can be reused. We camp often and have used the same Wally world ponchos for years now. Of course as we have had them for years they may be more than $4 now
Odds are if you have a poncho with you it won't rain
Lastly, some of the best days we've had at parks (Disney, Dollywood, Six Flags, Universal) have been rainy days. So many people find "something else" to do that you can get on rides and attractions with no wait.

I second the ball cap under the poncho hood. Makes a big difference. One of our best Disney days was a rainy day at Disney Studios. We had the park to ourselves! The only thing that closed was an abbreviated showing of Indiana and the stunt show closed early (we saw it first thing in the morning so it did not affect us). We sat with less than 20 other people for Fantasmic. They put it on even though it was POURING rain, bless their little hearts.

We were there at the same time - 11 1/2 inches of rain during our trip! We went to Walgreens and got Disney ponchos that were much better than the Dollar Store ones we had at first. The crowds were very low and we enjoyed short wait times. We waded through ankle deep water at Epcot and rode the Mexico boat ride about 10 times in a row due to lightning outside. I told the kids that they would NEVER forget that trip!

I hope for sunny weather for you...but if it rains, put on your poncho and go!!

We're going to be down the same time as you, and I still think it's too early to tell the weather! If I pack rain gear and the cover for the stroller, it won't rain a drop!
