I just found out that the very week I am going to be in LA, CA (May 10-13), the cheerleaders are having a convention. Now don't get me wrong. Cheerleaders are fine -- but I think a whole bunch of them could drive a Baptist preacher to drink! :rotfl2:

Someone put my mind at ease -- I am planning actually being at DL on Friday, May 12th. Will it really be bad with the cheerleaders? I have heard some horror stories from the WDW side. :sad2:

Better than the 10,000 ICU nurses that will be there the following week. :rotfl2:

Perhaps they are there to revive those of us who endure a large swarm of screaming, giggling, wild and crazy, pom pom carrying teenagers from the week before. :scared1:

Not as bad as the 25,000 brazillian cheerleader's in a touring group training to be ICU nurses!

good luck, I'm not going to worry myself anymore by looking at any conventions while I'm visiting, I'll just be surprised :) (although I am already anticipating large crowds)

What??? The cheerleader convention will be in L.A. or actually at DL? Wah! We're going the 9th-12th and were hoping crowds would be somewhat low. Oh well, maybe they won't like the same rides as our 4 yr. old ;)

I have BEEN to Disneyland during this time and it's NOT PRETTY!! I'm 36 years old and pretty tolerant ESPECIALLY when I'm at the parks but what a nightmare!! KIDS EVERYWHERE!! AND THEN SOME!! Sorry to disappoint and best of luck!

Can the OP provide more info on the Cheerleader convention? We are going the same time and may want to switch hotels depending on where the cheerleaders are staying. Thanks.

Please say it isn't so! Cherleaders scare me :teeth: . It seems like everytime we go to WDW there is a cheerleader competition going on so they swarm the parks. I would prefer a cheerleader free trip, is that too much t ask :confused3

There is also some school band competition thing on the 12th that might explain the cheerleaders as well. Sorry I can't put your mind at ease but it looks like it will be pretty packed. Get there early use fastpass and try to enjoy!

I heard it from someone at Candy Cane Inn when I called them for reservations. I think what I might do is start a real nasty rumor that some famous cute teenage singer/actor will be at the local convention center and see if they fall for it and skip DL to see their heart throb. :lmao:

You Are Calm. You Are One With Disneyland .the Sceaming Teens Only Detract From Your Carma.try To Avoid Them As Much As Possible. Relax Your Mind, escape To Youth. ;)

P.S. why the heck did i spell KARMA w/a C? :confused3

When we went in February the cheerleaders :cheer2: were there. Can we say ANNOYING!!! They were getting on my last nerve. One year there was a Square Dancing convention and that was much more interesting than the cheerleaders.

One of our family friends is a cheerleader. She went to the convention a couple of years ago and SHE found them annoying. It couldn't be worse than the time we went during some kind of band convention. The kids were WILD - it was unbelievable. There were a ton of them in our hotel...we moved after the first night! Looking on the bright side, giggling and chattering can't be anywhere near that bad.

This is sad news as we will be there May 11th-14th. Esp since my DD 7 can now read everything on all the girls butts.

DH on the other hand will love to here the news!

We were there with "the cheerleaders" in February. Other than seeing lots of girls around the parks and hotel lobby in curlers it didnt impact our trip at all. :thumbsup2 We never found any of them to be overly loud or abnoxious like I've always heard. I was a bit worried about this going in, but everything was fine.

Yeah, the guy from Candy Cane Inn told me that the cheerleading thing will be taking place from May 8-14.

I would hope (I know, I can be delusional) that they would be too busy at their competition during the week and not at DL.

Spazzyjazzy -- can you fill those of us who may be inflicted upon by these chirpy little teens what to expect. Are they really there all day long during the week?

I just know I am being punished. This is what I get for making fun of cheerleaders . . . pom pom hell. :cheer2:

I love you! I love you! I love you!

Even if I am not as fortunate, it is something positive to hold onto.

I also like darph nader's "calming words". I know, I know . . . Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. :goodvibes

Disneyaggie, if you're really an aggie, you'll end up at Knotts thinking it is Disney and won't see a cheerleader anywhere near you :lmao:
