I booked 5 nights Nov. 18-23 to take advantage of the slower time before Thanksgiving. Now free dining for Visa Card holders has been announced. How will this affect the crowds, busses, resturants etc. Please tell me we won't be waiting in 4th of July style lines for everything.

There have been several crowd reports during the current free dining that indicates very light crowds.

Remember, if only people from the resorts were allowed into the parks, and the resorts were full, the crowds would still be light. What makes crowds swell are people from off-site and locals.

Who anounced? When did they anounce it? And how the heck do you sign up? I just applied for my Disney Visa 2 days ago- am I eligable? :confused3

I don't know, makes me nervous as I have my trip planned before Thanksgiving too.

I just got an email from Disney rewards with this offer. You can contact them for details.

I saw the details on the link at the top of the page, called Disney and booked for Dec!!! It was simple. You better call quick. It's filling up and very limited.

It has to be the package booked for 2 adults, 1 jr., and 1 child. Too bad, we have 4 adults going in Dec.

That's not true. Disney ALWAYS gives that example when they announce deals, but that's all it is - an example.

JamieW is right. That is just an advertisement example. You can call and book at any available resort with any age guests.

We were in WDW for Free Dining last September and we did NOT think the crowds were low at all, more medium-ish. I would say the lack of crowds this year has more to due to the 6 named hurricanes of the season, so far.

I'm going the same week, and I'm trying to be encouraged by the free dining deal. I figure the reason they are offering it for these weeks is that bookings are significantly lower then hoped, and they are trying to boost business. I'm thinking that with the recent economic instability, not that many people are going to be tempted to take a spur-of-the moment trip right before the holidays, and so crowds will not be significantly impacted by the offer.

I think it is a combo of that and our tanking economy

What are the dates for this free dining?

Lynn5700.....look in the resort section...there are several threads on the new Disney Visa code and dates....your dates are included because mine are and we are there 10/3 to 10/6....I called and using the new code was only going to save me $20 (we are 1A and 1C) on our Fall Promo package so I didn't bother with all the hassle of changing. I just last week upgraded to WL so I could not upgrade resorts. I think if you go FD you look your discounted room rate? It's probably worth a call for you though. Good luck and maybe we'll run in to you at the world ;)

if it is free dining you need to book the restaurants you want right away otherwise you wont get a reservation anywhere for meals

only tangentially related question - can someone tell me what the difference is between a "jr." and a "child"? I see that in package descriptions, but it doesn't make sense to me - there are no "junior" rates for anything, are there? Just adult & child? Unless child is under 3 and junior is 3-10? (Or vice versa?)

any light shed is appreciated!

The quote that you posted is only an advertisment example. You can book any available resort, up to three rooms with your family members.

As far as "Junior." Disney considers all children 10 - 17 years of age as a junior, but there is no price difference between a junior and an adult (any child 10 and over will be charged an adult price and called a junior). I think they they have a different classification because of resort booking policies. If this is incorrect, I'm sure somebody will correct me.

i wonder if many people can afford to plan a vacation with this short notice? If the free dining was just announced, this only gives 2 months to plan a Thanksgiving trip. It took us over a year to save up...heres hoping everyone is as broke as us! (haha only kidding....well sorta!)
