I just started calling hotels, and I called the Anabella where we have stayed before and really liked. They are booked!!!

Apparently the National Music convention is going on. We will be in the park Jan 16 and 17. I am so bummed that the hotel we like is booked, so now I need to call around and see what I can find!

With DL's close proximity to the Anaheim Convention Center, there's ALWAYS a convention of some sort going on but I wouldn't let that worry me. There are so many hotels in the area you shouldn't have a problem. We were there at the end of January and stayed at the Candy Cane Inn for $99 per night and loved it. Very close to DL for me and very close to the convention center for DH. BTW, he was there for a huge convention and it had virtually no impact on park crowds; they were practically empty.

i would think...

booked hotels + Disneyland = very very crowded

booked hotels + DIsneyland + convention = split in between

The area hotels may be affected, but the past few years with NAMM in town, the parks haven't shown any noticably larger crowds that I've noticed.

Thanks to NAMM in Anaheim 3 years ago I did get to ride Screamin' 1 row behind Brian May from QUEEN though. :)

NAMM is the largest convention in the US. Really. And Anaheim Convention center is the only center that can handle it. It's the only one that uses up all of the display space. My DH is in the biz (band instrument retail) and works about 4 miles from DL. We never noticed too much impact on crowds, but there will sometimes be an impact in parking by the DL/PP hotels.

Park crowds - some increase, but still manageable. Hotels - probably will be tough to get a close one!

FYI, Sarah,
I did just quickly check out where we usually stay, the Anaheim Plaza Hotel, and it does have availability AND a room with two Queens, micro and fridge is only running $59.95 per night and a family suite for $109. Kids eat free, too.
