Oh Gosh!! About 2 weeks ago, we noticed water on the floor in the family room, next to the laundry room. DH thought it was the dishwasher at first, and checked the hoses, etc. No luck. No water seen for a few days....then... Water seeps from under the wall. DH then thought maybe a hose on the washing machine. Pulls it out from the wall..........mildew on the wall, and soft near bottom. (really, how many times have you all pulled your washing machine away from the wall......us, hardly ever, and surely would have noticed this if we had)..Call plumber....checks pipes, and finds we have "multiple leaks" in the pipes running through the center of our home! Apparently had been leaking for a while, and been absorbed into the framework, and sheetrock. Mucho $$ to repair!! (there goes our next 2,3,maybe 4 trips to Disney!:( ) ---the plumber is going instead!! Well, they have been here the last 2 days...........what a mess!! We now have a wall you can see through, no ceiling in the laundry room, holes in the tiled wall over tub in the hall bathroom upstairs, and in our bathroom shower stall. Had to replace both toilets, due to leakage as well..YUCK..!! Will have to replace both tub, and shower stall, with the ones that come with "surround walls". Still don't have dishwasher, and washing machine can't be hooked up yet either. The sheetrock guy is coming tomorrow (Can hardly wait!!)
In addition to the inconvenience of it all........there is white sheetrock poweder tracked through the house and pieces of sheetrock downstairs in piles.....I don't even know where to start cleaning.
Just needed to vent.........am feeling poorly today due to all the mess, etc......

So sorry about the mess and stress you are going through right now, Elaine.

Yuck, we had the same thing happen in our upstairs shower, I got a new kitchen out of it! At least you caught it before a full scale break happened, maybe when you weren't home. My friends came home once opened their front door to a tidal wave. Sorry about your trip, Disney will be there when you are ready for it. Houses are money suckers for sure.

UGH Elaine! I am so sorry. I do not handle situations like this well, and it seems that, although you are stressed, you are dealing with it well. That sounds like a horrible expense. I am a fairly new home owner and have always wondered about emergencies like this. Oh my I can't even imagine the cost of all this:earseek: I am very sorry:( This too shall pass.
