The one thing I forget to put away...raw chicken breasts still in it's package. They've been sitting out for about 4 hours. Do I toss them?

if you don't mind risking getting sick..... go ahead. but i wouldn't.

I googled and didn't come up with a really good link, but the Harris Teeter (grocery store) site said you can leave them out unrefrigerated no longer than two hours.

I woudn't use them.

Standard food safety quidelines state that you toss food if it's been exposed like that for two hours or less.

Ohh, my Dh had food poisoning years ago :guilty: I would throw out the $6.00 of chicken out before possbily exposing my family to that..

Although I do expose them to my cooking as well :teeth:

Really?!? You all would throw the chicken away?!? I find the viscous slime that begins to form on raw chicken after hour 3 to be a delicious substitute to my typical chicken seasonings. :teeth:

Ahhh, be adventuresome...I'll bet you could use a little exxcitement in your life, go ahead and use it :rotfl2: I double dog dare you ;)

Alrighty then. They go out to the curb tonight! Dang it, I guess that means I don't have anything to cook for dinner tonight. :rolleyes1

Use this tactic sparingly. Your DH might catch on. Mine on the other hand loves to go out, so it doesn't take too much convincing. Have a nice dinner.

Hmmm :scratchin this sounds like an Outback Steakhouse commercial to me :teeth:

I have donemuch worse and ate it anyway. Really I think 4 hours is nothing. 8 I would toss them. I left them out over night and we were really poor back then. Ate them anyway and was fine.

Make sure they are really cooked. Maybe crock pot chicken dumpling soup.

If they were frozen, I would still use them. If they were not, have a nice dinner out tonight.

What ever happened to the day when our Moms used to leave meat defrost on the counter all day long? Due to all the bad publicity nowadays, I have to think my menu at least 2 days in advance so that I can take meat out of freezer & let defrost in fridge. So annoying!

I dunno do you really like your family??

persoanally I do and I wouldn't risk it

If they were frozen, I would just eat them.

Dear SO ALWAYS leaves the chicken or ground turkey (frozen) out and by the time I get home from work, it's still a bit frozen, about 4 hours. I think it's fine. I have a sensitive stomach, and I've yet to get sick.
