Hear me out! I'm just asking you to write a short message asking MTV not to insult the very same person who is the reason why MTV is as big as it is today.

Today, on TRL, they made a joke, and it ended up calling MJ a "white chick." Now, you may find it funny, unless you were on the other side of the joke!

Let me explain. Michael Jackson has a disease called vitiligo, which rips pigmentation from the skin and causes it to change color. It has caused his skin to go from brown to a very pale (and even paler) white. Because of this disease, Michael is vulnerable to sun cancer, which we all know can be very deadly, especially in the event that the cancer spreads to other parts of his body.

I'm asking you to write MTV at You Tell Us and inform them that using racially insulting jokes isn't a good way to thank a man who has produced ground-breaking music videos like "Thriller." He only suffers from a disease that he can't control. He also tries to compromise his looks to go with the skin, and though he may not end up being a Denzel Washington or Brand Pitt, he does what he can. And since when was it our business to dictate how people should look anyway?

Besides, his plastic surgeries our none of his business.

Racist jokes aren't appreciated, and we shouldn't show a tolerance for it. If they're going to insult and humiliate a man as rich and powerful as Michael Jackson, imagine what people will be willing to do to you!

Thanks guys. If you don't like Michael Jackson, that's okay, but it doesn't mean it's okay to hate!

I think its perfectly ok to hate a child molester.

Michael Jackson is not the reason MTV is as big as it is today. He just happened to be the most popular artist when MTV came about. Metal actually did a lot more for MTV in the 80's than Michael Jackson did.

It's ok for you to defend him... so why shouldn't I be allowed rip on him and make jokes?

I have to agree with Dancin4Disney. I have Michael Jackson ever since off the wall album. First I he has not been convicted of the child molestation charges, though I agree what has been released through the media has been pretty convincing about what he may have done.(of course we can believe what the media says, no grain of salt need when listen to the media). Secondly, I don't think that is even relavent to what Dancin4Disney is talking about, it more about a show telling our teens that hey its okay to use bash people racially and/or with a disease if they are different. I know MTV is not exactly the place where values are a priorty, but we need to take a stand somewhere and tell these companies that our youth need more uplifting of individuals and less tearing them down. Just remember the story of grandson and granddad on the beach and the GD picks up the starfish and throws him into the water. The GS ask why did you do that? GD answers because the starfish get washed up on shore and can't live up here so send back to sea to live. GS says but GD thier are thousands of starfish all along the beach what difference does it make? The GD picks up a Starfish tosses it into the sea and says "it made a difference to that one" Thanks for making the post Dancin4Disney.

As far as Michael Jackson helping MTV to where it is today, well I remember when MTV was running his video very frequently, and it worked well for both parties. I know that most companies forget what started it all.

Didn't your mother teach you that if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all?

And since when was it okay to get racially insulting in order to hurt Michael Jackson's feelings?

No she taught me freedom of speech.

When did I say it was okay to get racial? Making fun of him for being a sissy grown man or joking about his nose jobs has nothing to do with his race. Neither does making fun of his skin color. He has really white skin... whiter than mine. It's funny, therefore I make fun of him.

To deny that he is a big reason that MTV is what it is today is denying an absolute fact.

And if you're so big on a major American right such as the 1st amendment, you must also not judge Michael who has never been convicted of a crime. By calling him a child molestor you are not abiding by the American principle of "innocent until proven guilty."

Yes, they have the right to make fun of him. And we have the right to demand an apology.

Joe - You can't be all bad since you have a Bush/Cheney tag in your sig. ;)

I know its a bad way too look at it, but I believe in guilty until proven innocent. Especially since the majority of people that are arrested were breaking the law.

Since this is the 2nd time this charge has been brought up on MJ, its very hard to believe him when he says he isn't guilty. Dancing on the top of your SUV certainly doesn't make me take him serious.

He also settled the first time this charge was brought about. If he really was innocent why not go to trial?

I personally don't believe him... thats me. You believe he's innocent... I think its great you have that much faith in people.

I do agree that it is hard tpo believe that MJ is innocent after being accused more then once for the same thing. However, he did help make MTV big back on the 80s, and therefore they should really be thanking him. They do have the right to say whatever they want about him, but, like I said before, he helped make MTV popular. My point is, it is alright to make fun of him and whatnot, but at the same time consider what a great musician he is/was. Just my opinion.

I'm not big on my MTV history :o, but Michael Jackson completely revolutionised the music video, leading to a need for music television. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any metal videos that actually needed to be on TV. It's down to people like Michael Jackson that MTV began.

If Michael Jackson got cancer, would it be funny to make fun of his really bald head?

Honestly, where would music videos be today without Thriller?
