As I look at our suitcases filling up for the Magic this Saturday (woo hoo!!!), I realize that sometime during the cruise I will have to do laundry for DH, teen DSs, and myself.

I really wanted to wait until we get to Wilderness Lodge the following Saturday, but that is not going to happen.

Could someone suggest, for a 7 night western:

The BEST time to do laundry

The WORST time to do laundry

Thanks,
Karen

Well I can tell yu I found the worst times to be on the days at sea, and also right before early dinner. Jam packed in there, lol. I did try very early one morning, and it was not bad at all. :)

Early morning is best. By early, I mean getting the wash in before 7. The other option would be during early dinner on a port day (assuming that you were on late seating), but you might have to time it around the show.

Make sure you take your own quarters (the machine runs out frequently), and I always take laundry tablets and trial sized softner. That ensures that you won't have a reaction to some different type of soap, and saves you money!

Don't do it on Castaway Cay day! It's so jammed packed that there is actually a line waiting for the washers....:hyper:

Have a great cruise,

Travis

Having only done a 4 day, I did notice the last day at sea was a bad time to do laundry. What some people did was save their laundry for the end of the cruise and then would use 4 washers/dryers. The only problem was they didn't stay and I didn't want to be pushy and take their laundry out. I kept coming back and after an hour, I finally took their things out and placed them neatly on the table. I usually try to stay nearby when I do laundry. I might run back to the stateroom to get some change but I always try to make sure I'm not holding people up.

Did our laundry around 2am, after watching a movie! Only one other guest there!Alternatively, send DH and teens to do their own! Haha. Nat:Pinkbounc

I did mine on the last at a sea day (Thursday) on the magic. I tried to do it early - aroung 7 but all the machines were full. I got lucky and found two empty ones at about 8:30. We had brunch ressies at 10:00 so I wasn't sure I would get it done in time. Luckily, my washers were done just as someone else's dryers were done. The lady before me had time left on her dryer and the clothes dried very quickly. How lucky for me!

That being said, they laundry rooms got pretty busy while I was there. Try to get there earlier.

I remember someone saying (I can't remember if it was on our cruise or on this board) that a bunch of people brought drinks to the laundry room and had a sort of laundry party.

I'd do it mid-morning on a port day if you don't have an excursion planned. Typically a bunch of people leave early for their excursions and others leave about then to do the wandering about if they don't have anything booked. The ship really clears out

I bet CC day is a great day for that - free machine wise. Send it out... will DCL do it for you?

I did an unplanned laundry time when we were in port. Only the guys had planned an excursion. I decided against it to get in some me time.
My daughter and i came back to the ship early. She was really tired and we decided to go back for a nap. I decided play mom an take advantage of the less people on the ship.
There was no one in the laundry room around 3pm and i was able to use two washers and dryers and be done in a little over an hour while she napped. By the time the guys got back all was done and both of us were asleep. I had packed my own laundry tablets and dryer sheets. Also took a roll of quarters.
:teeth:

I come back from Castaway about an hour before the "all aboard" call and do a load of laundry. Nearly always can get a washer then. If you wait till 5, you will find the long line.

Early mornings are good most days........do only what you must, and save the rest for WDW where it is much easier to get a machine.

I agree--bring your own quarters, laundry soap, and softener if desired. It will save $ and aggravation.
