Seriously, I'm supposed to think of these things?? It just occurred to DH (we're not used to Superbowl being in February yet).

Ok, so we just lost DH for one evening while he (and presumably DFIL as well) go to watch the game. I can forgive this, it's ok, the girls and I will do something fun together. Superbowl's a really big deal for him, and it's bad enough he'll miss the party he goes to every year with his buddies.

Where should he go to watch it?

I think I just found my "in" for Boma or Jiko, though - he doesn't like the AKL restaurants, so we can go without him, maybe.

I'll figure that out second. First, where should I send HIM?

maybe there is an espn zone down there, or how about something in ww of sports. hope someone has an answer.

There is an ESPN zone - I'm hoping for a more interesting spot, I don't know ANYTHING about Wide World of Sports ....please keep the suggestions coming!

There is an ESPN club at Boardwalk. Otherwise, maybe a bar would be showing it in one of the resorts.

If they're going to ESPN club, I'd say get there VERY early!

The year I went to Disney over Superbowl weekend they wer showing the Superbowl it all the resorts.

We were there over superbowl three years ago, which for us was fine because DH isn't a big football person anyway, but as others have said they show the game many places. The fun bonus was that the day after superbowl, some players from the winning team were in the MK afternoon parade - and it was the year the Steelers won so for us being from PA it was fun! I don't know if they always do that or not.

LOL! Our trip in January spans 2 playoff weekends! GASP! DH is a huge, HUGE, Giants fan! We may have a problem with our trip home on the 11th if the Gaints are on while we're flying. I told DH we could stay 1 more day!

The ESPN zone at boardwalk will most likely be a mob scene! I'd say his best bet would be the bar in the hotel!

Oh, he'd sure love that!

I agree, it's a mob scene at the best of times, from what DH said. I think I'll leave him to work that out, but he did call again asking if any of the DISers had any suggestions of where to go to watch it, so I'm still watching this thread (and bumping it).

I love going over Superbowl weekend. The crowds are light and during the game the parks are practically empty.

If all else fails, I'm sure he'll be able to see the game on the TV in your room and he can order in pizza or whatever he likes.

I love the sound of empty parks - and it's EMH at MK that night!

I think he and FIL will want something a little more festive than the room, but I'm sure he'll come up with something.

I'd like to know how it is Superbowl weekend. We're planning to go that weekend, and we're huge football fans. Not sure if we should go out to watch it or just stay in the room (we'll have to be in the room for most of it anyway when baby goes to sleep).

I don't know about the other hotels, but the Polynesian had the game playing on a wide screen TV in the 2nd floor lounge.

You're not the only one -- I booked a trip a few years ago over Super Bowl weekend too! We were staying at Saratoga Springs so DH & oldest DS went down to the Turf Club to watch the game. They had it playing on several wide screen TVs. They had the best time! I'm sure in any resort bar they'll have the game on, ESPN Zone at the Boardwalk will be packed!

Just an FYI... I would not count on very low crowds this year for SuperBowl weekend. The SuperBowl this year is in Tampa. My uncle works for a large "adult beverage" :drinking1 Superbowl sponsor and they have booked 100s of rooms at WDW for the families that are traveling with the people that have to work at the Superbowl. I know a lot of them are planning on hitting the parks on Superbowl Sunday!

Me too! Same weekend! It was wonderful. My husband is a HUGE Steeler fan and he didn't come with us. I got phone calls from him all night updating me on the score and would pass along the info to the other people on line with us and we would all cheer. It seemed like the entire Orlando area was rooting for the Steelers. Everywhere you looked, Black and Gold! And then they had Jerome Bettis and his family the next day. DD and I missed them though -- we had lunch reservations in the Castle that day. :headache:

Also, we stayed at the ASMo and they had huge TVs set up in the food court area so everyone could watch the game.

Hi, I say be prepared - order the Orlando Magic card and Orlando guide book from the Orlando Chamber of Commerce - it's free. There are probably all kinds of (dare I say it) Gasp! - off property - sports bars/restaurants on nearby international drive that way if the ESPN club is too crowded to get near a TV DH and FIL could take a cab to the bar of their choice so they can enjoy the game.

You are a vile and dispicable person...NFL 1st then Disney...that's the order stick to it. :lmao:

But seriously...I love Football on an unhealthy level...but as long as my team isn't playing I wouldn't care about missing the Super Bowl...The last really good Super Bowl was the Titans/Rams in 1999.

What confuses me is why does he have to go anywhere to watch the game...I'd be content in my room...even at the Pop...no distractions...no people...best view of the TV...and if the game stinks I can take a nap. :confused3

Hey, we'll be there at the same time! I told DH to suck it up and deal with it. I ASKED him if there were any dates he didn't want to go and he said no, so that's his fault! I don't consult with sports calendars when making travel arrangements. I missed the World Series in 2007 because I would have rather been on a cruise for my birthday and I lived without it and I am a diehard baseball fan! Hope you find a solution...nice dinner for you and football for him!
