For over a year now, I have been reading these boards and thinking about going on a Disney Cruise. Every time I would get ready to book, I would chicken out (fear of getting seasick). But this morning I got up and went to my computer and found that my oldest daughter had pulled out the old Disney Cruise booklet and left it sitting on the computer desk. I asked her why she had pulled it out and she said, "Because I really wish we would go on it!" She is 19, so I was a little surprised that this would be the ship she would want to go on, but we are all Disney Fanatics so I guess it is understandable.

After talking to her, it finally hit me that there will only be a few more years that she will be able to travel with us before she is off on her own and working, and I might regret it later on if we don't go on the cruise together! So when I got home from work today, I called my husband and said I was ready to do it. We only have two weeks in the summer when the oldest daughter is home because she is in college year round, but we ended up booking it for June 10th. It's only the 3 night cruise, but since we are first timers, we decided to start out small. I am sooo excited!

The girl at AllSeas was going to try to get us rooms 6112 & 6114 (2 connecting category 6 rooms). Does anyone know anything about these rooms?

Did I mention how excited I am!!!!!

Congrats on booking your first cruise!!! We took our first cruise last August, a seven day Eastern, and will be doing it again this August!!! Cruising, like the DISboards, can become very addicting!!!

Congratulations! You and your family will have a great time. We started out small too with a 4 night Wonder last Oct. We loved it so much (even DH who isnt a disneyaholic like me) we are doing the 7 night western this Oct. Enjoy your trip and all the planning!

Hi,

Congrats!!!! Have a good time!!!

I was in 6116 (or 6616 - same room other side of the ship) and my sister's family was right next door. The rooms were not connecting but otherwise they should be the same. The are located near the aft elevators and dvery convenient. We did not hear any hall traffic or crew noise.

Have a great time ...

Thanks for all the well wishes! I can't wait to start planning. I know, it's only for 3 nights, and there really won't be much to plan, but it is still exciting!!! My youngest daughter and I even went to the scrapbook store today and bought a little paper replica of a Disney cruise ship, so that we will have it when we make our Cruise Scrapbook.

Figment-glad to hear that you liked your room. I still haven't gotten anything concrete from AllSeas letting me know that we definitely got these rooms, but she felt certain that we would.

Once you go on a Disney Cruise you will be hooked for life. We went on a 3-day cruise last sept. We were ready to board again when we got off. My idea of cruising was "Love Boat" tv series and Queen Mary. Oh my gosh was I wrong. It is the most relaxing and hurried time. Three days go by so quickly you will think you just got on. Read and ask questions on this board. I would recommend you get a book called 'Passporter's Field Guide to the Disney Cruise Line'. That has a tons of info. I picked it up at Barnes and Noble but if you can't find it at a local bookstore you can get it on line at Passporter.com. My husband and I poured over that book. We learned so much from that book and what I couldn't get from the book I asked here. The DISers here are very knowlegble about cruising.

Go, relax, and be glad you took that last trip with your DD before she flys the coop.

PS the only time the ship is really rocking is the first nite until about 11 pm then on it is smooth sailing.

My DD was 19 when I took her on her first cruise. She (and I) had a ball. She has gone with me again, and next month my long-suffering DH will get his first DCL experience. While watching the video, I was moaning about how I wished this had been around when our kids were little.....but DH quickly reminded me that when our kids were little we never would have been able to afford it. Oh well.....we enjoy watching the whole thing through different ages' eyes, I guess.

Way to go! You are going to have the time of your lives. I bet by the time you get off of that beautiful ship you will have booked a 7 day ;)

pwcarlson - Believe it or not, I was already studying the Passporter cruise guide last night with a highlighting marker in hand! Wow, there is a lot of information in there!

It's good to hear that others have taken 19 year olds on the cruise. I really worry that there won't be anyone her age. I'm not the least bit worried about the 16 year old. When I told her that we were going yesterday, she put in the Disney Cruise video and got really excited about the teen areas...especially the "hot guys" on the teen beach...sorry, I think those are just actors, Emily! ;)

I have a feeling we will love it and will be rebooking while onboard just like the rest of you. I'll have to make sure I have the 19 year old's school breaks written down somewhere so I know when she can go. Only 114 more days! :Pinkbounc

Holly - you are one up on most of us who cruised before we found this forum!

Remember ask a lot of questions and once you get on the cruise - RELAX!

Hey Holly~ Welcome to our Cruising World of the Dis~

congratulations on booking your very first cruise with Disney... believe me, there will be more! Don't even give seasickness a thought, the ship is SO large, it's like a floating hotel. We were up on deck 7 and could bearly feel the motion, it's more of a relaxing rocking motion. That calming feeling lasted with me for about 2 weeks after I left the ship!!

My daughter first went on the Magic in Feb 2002, when she got off, she called me from her cell phone and yelled "Mom, you HAVE TO go on a cruise, you WILL LOVE it!!" and she's right, we cruised together last month and I'm am absolutley hooked!!

Read everyone's trip reports, you'll get so much information from there... which reminds me, I have to continue working on mine!!

Have fun, good luck with all the planning, it's addicting!!:wave2:
