So we were planning to fly from NOLA to MCO. It's a 2 hour drive from my house but I figured we'd save about $700 flying out of NOLA so no biggie.

$356 out of LFT
$250 out of NOLA

7 people. Yeah ~ $700 price savings. We have to pay gas and parking but that's only $100 so it's still better.

I've been faithfully checking the dings to see if I could get something but haven't found anything yet. Nothing.

This AM I decided to price out other airlines just for the heck of it.

Delta had a flight out of NOLA connecting in Memphis ~ $115 ROUND TRIP PP if we'd fly back on Monday instead of Sunday.

I thought I had died when I read that!!!!

So I booked 7 people for only $805!!!!!

Someone pinch me.

Seriously ~ instead of the $1800 (7 people) on Southwest we'll fly Delta out of NOLA for only $800.

Granted it's a connecting, we have to stay and extra day and we have a little drive to get there (which we were doing anyway), but we're saving roughly $750 after making the adjustment for adding the extra day at Disney.

Oh happy day!!!!!!!! :cool1::dance3::cheer2::woohoo::yay:

BTW ~ we aren't planning on checking bags. Everyone is taking one carryon so luggage wasn't a big issue :)

I have noticed that Delta tends to have it's lowest prices on Tuesday. Glad you got a good price!!!

Congratulations on the great find! :thumbsup2

I've flown out of both LFT and MSY (as well as BTR) and I'm not surprised there was a better flight out of MSY simply because there's more flights out of there. It really pays to keep checking. I often use www.kayak.com to watch fares for the times I'm going. You can set an alert for the particular destination and get a regular email about the current best.

I happened to tinker on Kayak for airfare from Bloomington, IL to Orlando in April. I couldn't believe it when roundtrip fares were $134! They're even about that price for both the late October trip I already booked on AirTran and the AirTran/Delta trip I already booked in December!

As much as I would prefer AirTran's non-stop flight to Orlando - I can't imagine it will drop to $67 one-way - including taxes!

Well I'm very happy for your good fortune but this is a perfect illustration of something that really irritates me about how airlines price flights. I fly from Memphis to Orlando direct meaning I likely catch the second leg of the flight you just booked. Flights are NEVER below $200 and rarely below $280-$300. I am sure the defenders of everything airline here will chime in with justification but I can't see it making sense.

I'm having one of those days too today! Booked Nashville to Orlando ROUND TRIP for $96 each for October! $122 TOTAL incl taxes and fees. Thanks to alert from airfarewatchdog.com Jackpot!

Thanks everyone :)

It's sad that you can't book Memphis to Orlando for a comparable price. I agree that airlines are very crazy. There is no real method to the madness that's for sure. Hopefully if you keep watching you'll be able to find something ~ I was starting to sweat because I actually booked WDW about 9 months ago, but just now found our flights. It was a little too close for my comfort, but I'm happy I waited it out :)

Nice score!

we found Delta round trip for $199.40 for both of us and snatched that up!
