My youngest DS plays soccer. The coach just called tonight and asked if I could put together the end of the season party, trophies and all for this Saturday afternoon. I'm not the team mom or whatever they are called nowadays but the mom who appt. herself as such was asked by the coach to step down. Per coach off record, she was a troublemaker and the coach had enough. This coach has been awesome. He is an older gentleman without children of his own and has been coaching soccer for 25 yrs. The parents on this team have really been jerks/pain to the coach. DH is the assistant coach and he gets it too. I have never seen a bunch of adults whine so much.

I need cheap and quick ideas for 11- 9 & 10 yr olds. I know if I ask the parents for money all **** will break loose and I know I will not be able to please everyone, but this is for the kids and I want the kids to have a good time.

Help!!! I'm already stressing and it's only been 20 minutes since I got the news.

P.S. I put this on another another board but I need all the ideas I can get!

Pizza! Juice & Soda. Maybe some chips. They're 9 & 10 year old boys, they won't care what they're eating, they'll just care about the party.

Sorry about the parents. We've been REALLY lucky this indoor season, great coach, and a good group of parents.

In our town, we just take the kids to Pizza Hut or somewhere similar and the coach hands out trophies to each kid. The parents pay for the trophies, but they are just $8 or $10. The trophies have the team name, player name, and year. Good luck!! No need to stress. The kids are really happy to just have an "end of season" party. Hope you can do trophies- they love those as well.

Wow, you're in a tough spot. My son plays soccer too and these are a few of the things we did to wrap the season up in prior years.

Once, we had a party at one of the parent's houses. They brought beer (don't know why) and soda, had a cookout (IN October LOL) and just let the kids play games and the adults just chatted - trophy's given out.

Another year the coach just had all the kids come to his house (without parents) and they had a party. Ordered food, played video games etc....

Our one coach would always kick the season off with a pizza party and a soccer game in which all the kids on the team would play against the parents and any siblings. The kids who played soccer would always thump the rest of us. LOL (IMO, this seemed to be what the kids enjoyed the most and we'd always record the game. Between hubby, my daughter and myself, there was always a time someone wasn't playing.)

I know we've done more, but I'm really drawing a blank right now. If I think of anything else, I'll post back.

Good Luck!

I agree with the Pizza idea.

And if you need to take care of the trophies, almost every trophy I have ever seen in the Tampa/Lutz area (DH and I were both HS althletes, and DS and I run local road races) come from here:

Thanks for the tips and ideas. I like the medals with ribbons, I didn't think about that at all. Aidensmom, I followed the link and the medals are less then $3.00 each. THANKS!

CiCi's pizza.

Pop & Gatorade.

Medals & Trophys - do you have a Party America near you. They have inexpensive, non-engraved ones at the store here.

You could also make up certificates on your computer.

Cake with the Team name if you want to go all out - your local grocery bakery could probably do this for about $12, depending on the size you need.

How old are the boys? You could make "picture frames" out of construction paper - maybe shaped & decorated to look like a soccer ball. Take a picture of the team & give everyone a copy for their frame.

Coach gift - sounds like the guy deserves some small token of appreciation.

the medals with the ribbon are really nice, dd12 gets those at figure skating competitons, unless we go to Chicago....they give trophys...... have fun!!!!

I like the medals too, especially with the Olympics starting soon oh and they don't take up as much SPACE as a trophy!
