Oh, I feel like such a murderer!

I was talked into buying some live krill (also known as Sea Monkeys) to feed my saltwater fish yesterday. I poured the bag in the aquarium and watched them swim. My fish immediately went crazy and within a few minutes, hundreds of sea monkey lives were lost. I remember having these things as pets and naming each and every one of them, so this was quite traumatic for me. ;) My 11 year old son on the other hand, thought the whole event was very cool and can't wait till we get some more.

Anyway, thought I'd share a couple of pics from my tank and the "murderers" inside it. :rotfl:

I killed my BIL's goldfish while he was celebrating his birthday in WDW.

I felt really bad for a few days, but then I got over it.

Did you replace it, or try to pass off another goldfish as his?

Actually, I said that wrong. It was a betta fish. I'm no expert, I'm easily confused by things with gills and fins. That hasn't stopped me from buying the tropical fish for dummies book, though, in hopes that some day I can have a tank filled with beautiful fish like yours.

And yes, I did drive 1 1/2 hours to get to the pet store to replace his three dollar fish. And then I drove 1 1/2 hours back home to put it in his bowl.

But my DS3 ratted me out (that big mouthed kid). I specifically told my children not to mention the dead fish, in hopes that BIL wouldn't notice. But on BIL's first day home, we were at his house, listening to his wonderful adventures from his WDW vacation, and DS3 pipes up, "My gonna go see dat fish die."

"Die?" BIL asks. "What died?"

"Oh, nothing, who knows what that kid is rambling about?"

"Did you kill my fish and replace it with another one?" BIL asks.

"Oh, suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure, that's what happened. I killed your fish and replaced it hoping you wouldn't know," I say sarcastically. I can do sarcasm much better than I can do lies.

It didn't matter. He knows I'm a fish murderer. The jig is up. I can't even murder a fish and get away with it, so at least I know I'll never get away with killing another person, so I'm pretty sure I won't ever attempt that.

She jsut went and bought another one, and hoped he wouldn't notice...

ETA-oops...I must remember to finish reading a thread, she already confessed...

We have a reef aquarium too, I always feel guilty when we put something live in to be eaten.

Once we made a mistake and added two beautiful sea horses to our tank, I didn't know they could be killed by our anemone. :(

We have another reef aquarium also that we have alot of shrimp and coral in. Yep, we made the same mistake with sea horses before too.:sad1:

Maybe you won't feel so bad if you think of them as brine shrimp instead of Sea Monkeys.

We have some cute cleaner shrimp and blood shrimp in our tank (they keep it clean) my DD has named them.

Sometimes when I eat shrimp cocktail, I feel like I am eating one of our pets! :lmao:

Cool! I like the firefish in the background too!

Oh, I almost forgot two of the most important "murderers" I have in my tank.

Nice tank! I like the Royal Gramma that you have. I have one of those in my other tank, I have to take a picture to show. You have a nice sized Blue Hippo and Yellow tang too!
You have some really nice coral too!

Just keep telling yourself - it's the circle of life!

Beautiful tanks; I would love to have one like that!

Thanks, those pics were taken a while ago, corals and fish have come and gone - I don't have any recent pics. Reef tanks are fairly difficult to upkeep you have to be watching them for problems.

To be honest you are no where near as bad as children all over the world who are going through dozens of these sea monkey sets because they forget that the last ones died just because they got bored of them.

I think our family got through 3 alone when we where younger. I knew families who killed more.

I wouldnt feel so bad!
