Oh how do I love waitlist... :)

I think this is the first time in a long while we are booked in 1 room for the whole stay. The past several stays we have to either move from Value to our DVC room (to save points), or move from DVC to our honeymoon suite, move from DVC to DCL.
So I'm SUPER excited to only have to pack/unpack once...

It really is amazing how our priority changes once we have children...

Quick question on waitlists:- How long on average before you know ?

We have booked into our home resort (SSR) for a 2wk, 2BR at end of Nov / Dec (just after thanksgiving) - but would ideally like to switch to AKV (debate still going on as to whether preference is Jambo or Kidani).

Never done waitlist before, so looking for some guidance from the DIS-pro's on this.

I would put yourself on waitlist now for both. You can always drop one once you figure out which one you really want. The higher up your are on the list the better chance you get.

And there's really no telling when wls go through. I've had to wait months on some and for this one less than a couple weeks. It just depends on the time of the year and your luck really.

Okay, now I'm nervous. Never done this before so not sure what to expect. I understand that if it comes thru they will automatically cancel the original reservation? How do you know? Do they e-mail you or does it just show up on the vacation details on the member's site? Is there no link to check the status of your waitlist?
Unfortunatly, the last 2 times I called MS the CMs I got barely spoke English (sorry). At least I could barely understand them so I'm not entirely sure I even have a wait list.........I think I'll call tomorrow. Just to double check.

Yes, you have to be sure you WANT what's on your waitlist.
And they will send you an email with your confirmation #. At least that's how it was for me the last couple of times.

Unfortunately there is no waitlist screen or status. It would be nice to have that but with the way DVC works it's so random and changes so quickly that it won't make sense anyways.

I would call every now and then just to make sure your WL is still active. I've had 1 instance when my wl disappeared ... awhile ago(and I saw someone else posted the same thing recently). So I have a habit to check at least once a week.

Yep, we get an email with a link to the confirmation #. It's quite efficient actually. Although I do check my member website daily too... just for fun...
