For health reasons I have all but abandoned the political scene, but I may now have to abandon BBC News altogether. They insist on posting heart-wrenching photographs at the top of the front page - such as more and more detailed pictures of the stricken Titan submarine on the ocean bed.

I don't need this.

I couldn’t believe the media posted the Titan photos. There isn’t any real reason that the general public needs to see them. If there is something about the debris that is newsworthy then it can be reported verbally. It’s not necessary to show the photos to anyone other than investigators. I don’t blame you for wanting to avoid them.

But, then, I feel similarly about the Titanic itself, so . . .
