ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — There are no free lunches in life, but one could always count on free beer samples at Anheuser-Busch theme parks.

Until now.

The brewer has put the kibosh on the free beer samples at its SeaWorld theme parks in Orlando, San Antonio and San Diego and its Busch Gardens parks in Tampa and Williamsburg, Va. The brewer plans to build restaurants, or other food-related venues, which have a broader appeal to children and families, said Fred Jacobs, vice president of communications for Anheuser-Busch Adventure Parks.

“People who like beer and the hospitality of those facilities might be disappointed,” Jacobs said. “This was something that had pretty narrow appeal. We were looking to expand it into something that had broader appeal.”

For something with a narrow appeal it sure was crowded on our visit a few years ago. They can sugar coat it all they want, it is a cost cutting measure to help save and make more money.

Glad I got my free sample last month. :rolleyes1

But, from what I can remember, the place where they had the free beer also had food. And actually, we were kinda sorry we had already eaten, because the selection looked pretty darn good!

It's those Inbev people who bought Ainheiser Busch,I'm hoping when they sell off the parks somehow maybe the Busch family can be involved in the purchase and keep the Busch name for the parks and bring back the free beer.If that's not realistic, hopefully at least whoever does purchase the parks will run them they way they've always been run in the past.

There wouldn't be any benefit for the Busch family to give away free beer. It was done to market the product. Why would they want to market the beer for the Inbev group for free?

This, um, stinks...to put it nicely...

I could have sworn that Busch Gardens Williamsburg (VA) stopped the free samples quite some time ago.

Still a bummer, though.
