 OK, after reading a review about the CMs at the Poly, I am getting nervous! Is it true? Are the CMs mean?
Now, I understand that they are under stress at the moment... and I hope that all you Floridians are hanging in there...
but I am asking for a but of reassurance here, will out upcoming vacation be ok?? We will be at the Poly on Oct13-18th. Thanks for the input and my thoughts go out to those stuck in the storm....  :grouphug: :grouphug:

We stay at the Poly 25-30 days a year. In all those times I've never had a bad CM encounter. Everyone was polite and helpful and really went out of their way for us. I really would not worry about others bad CM reports. I am going back to the Poly in 5 days and cannot wait!

We were there last weekend...... never noticed anything like that.

Please take a deep breath and keep in mind that people tend to post about what they perceive to be a negative encounter with a CM then they are to post about all of the great interactions they had with various CMs throughout their stay.

We have been to WDW many times. See my sig. below and I can tell you that we have never encountered a "mean" CM anywhere. Now CMs are people too;) and they will have bad days just like we do so please do not let one post about a bad experiance at any resort sway you one way or another. For every negative post you see about a resort you could probaly fine multiple positive posts about that resort. Also, everyones vacation experiance is tainted by what the person brings to the vacation.

Go with the Poly make your own opinion of the resort and I am sure you will have a great trip. If you do encounter any issues that bother you bring them to the attention of management when they occur and have them resolved to your satisfacation and then move on with your vacation.

Hope you have a great trip.

I am here at the Poly now and I pretty much believe the CMs walk on water here, just because of the way everything with Jeanne has been handled. Of course they are pretty much what is standing between my family and the abyss so I'm bound to think they are pretty wonderful.

As an overall assessment of Poly CMs over the week as a whole-- I was very happy with them. As with anywhere in WDW, some are fabulous and go above and beyond the call of duty, and some are just doing their job, but we never had anyone be less than professional. I wouldn't worry about it. Bad moments can happen anywhere.

We stayed at the Polynesian LVC for 6 nights 8/23 - 8/29. We loved the size of the rooms and bathrooms. They were large and light. The grounds and pool were lovely, but we did have some CMs that were not very helpful and some that were actually a bit rude.

I was nervous, too, because of some of the things I had read on the boards before our trip - but my DH really wanted to try the Poly and we felt like we will just have to go and see for ourselves. I know everyone does have a different experience. After our own stay there we decided that we just won't stay there again. It isn't worth dealing with rude people when you are trying to have a fun, relaxing time on vacation.

We have stayed at the CR tower club many times and always enjoyed it immensely. We have also stayed at the YC and BC and thought they were very nice. I didn't have any bad CM experiences at either, although I have read reports of people who have.....

If the Polynesian resort appeals to you, give it a try. There are so many differing reports on the CMs there.

Don't let some crabby person ruin your fabulous vacation!! It is what you make it!!

Check out our signature - we think we're pretty discriminating people with an appreciation for great service and we NEVER stay anywhere but the Poly when we are at WDW. I'm not trying to discredit someone who had a bad experience; a bad day can happen to anyone anywhere, but our overall experience at the Poly has been wonderful. There are some longterm CMs at Poly concierge that we consider our Florida "family." We have had the occasional interaction that didn't live up to the Disney magic, but those have been few and far between, and never anything to ruin a vacation over. Relax and start looking forward to your stay!:D

We stayed there for the first time last year and couldn't have had nicer reception! The CMs even knew my kids' names within a couple of days. I think if you greet someone with a smile you are bound to get a good response. As someone mentioned, on here you have to learn to weed through the fact that CMs are human and can have a bad day. I don't think you have anything to worry about!

We've been to the Poly way too many times to count and have never had a bad experience with a CM. I'm not saying it can't happen, but as others have said people tend to post more negatives than positives.

We just recently stayed at the Poly and didn't have any trouble with the CM's.

The only one I would say needs to be a bit nicer (and it really wasn't that big of a deal) was the older lady that does the crafts. The day we were leaving they were making flower bracelets in the lobby. My girls were the only ones at their craft table. They made one and wanted to make another one to match and she wouldn't let them. She was very grouchy and said that they could only make one. I didn't see other children coming to the craft table and at the prices charged at the Poly I think they could have afforded to let my girls make two flower bracelets.

It didn't ruin our vacation at all. I thought the CM's were nice and helpful (if we asked for anything) Did I run into any that were spectatular and went out of their way...no unfortunately, but it was fine. I had three CM's say they were making arrangements for something special for my girls' birthdays and nothing happened. Oh well.

I had a couple less than stellar CM encounters at the Poly - It didn't ruin my trip at all. I was suprised that it happened, after all the wonderful things I've read. It was almost a "snobby" attitude. And we had a horrible housekeeper (this was conc.,also)It was still a great trip & if I got another great rate like I had that trip, I'd do Poly LVC again. The lounge & concierge staff alone were worth it.

I think it's luck of the draw, to be honest. I don't know that I'd cancel my ressies because a few of us had bad luck.

I've stayed at the Poly Conc. many times and just ike in real life, people have good and bad days. If a CM wasn't as friendly as I had hoped, I wouldn't say, "oh, dear," but instead would move on. Your vacation is in a large part what you make it, so don't be so worried. The Polynesian is a lovely hotel and all Floridians are under a lot of stress, let alone those who are worried about their homes and loved ones and still managing to go to work and smile. As a side note, I like to hear both the good and less than stellar opinions of resort stays so I was glad the OP in the other thread gave their honest opinion. Threehearts

Over the years we have found the POLY CM's to be among the most pleasant, informative, and helpful of all of the resorts.::yes::

Im not sure you can lump all poly cast members together and say they are mean or rude. There is bound to be one or two people having a off day. Remember whlie your lounging at the pool on vacation they are at work. Isn't there ever a day at work you just don't want to be there I know I have had plenty of those days. And to say "Now i'm scared to stay there" or " I'm now thinking of canceling our stay there" it's silly.

We have stayed at the Polynesian and I have posted in the past that I have found the CMs there to be less attentive than other resorts. Understand, someone can be having an off day, or just be grouchy at that particular moment. Happens all the time. But my experience was that there were more than a few times we met with not so friendly attitudes there. The people in the little golf carts, screaming around on the pathways, yelling at us to 'get out of the way', or a housekeeper sighing a huge sigh and rolling her eyes when we went into our room after eating breakfast to use 'the facilities' when she wanted to clean it!! Yes, I know, little things. But having stayed at other resorts in WDW, I have never encountered those things. Yes, the resort is beautiful and very laid back. But the pool gets incredibly crowded in the afternoon, there are a lot of pool-hoppers (yes, I can say they were there when you heard more than one family say.."Should we go back to AllStars to change or just ride over to MK while we're wet? or should we go back to our resort to eat or eat here?) Just little things and probably not enough to ruin a trip. Certainly didn't ruin ours. WE had a terrific time there. You can't beat the Polynesian for good food, terrific transportation choices and wonderful views. But not everyone has the same experience with the CMs there. I'm glad that most people have a good one.

that Poly CM's are bad. Keep in mind that at anytime you could run across a not-so-great CM anywhere - at any resort or any park. We've had very pleasant encounters with Poly CM's. One time, JUST ONCE, a CM at the pool bar was rude to my husband. My husband actually spoke to the manager about it and the manager was very helpful. Her name is Dinah. Other than her, we've had the absolute opposite experience at the Poly in that we've noticed the CMs are a "cut above" the CMs at the other resorts. We've been very pleased.

The worst experience we've had with CMs was at the Wilderness Lodge. HORRIBLE check-in, valets were slow and unresponsive when we drove up, CM at the boat dock was terrible...we were less than impressed with Wilderness Lodge. But, I'll bet there are plenty of folks out there who would say that the WL has the "best" CMs.

It's all a matter of chance I guess....anyone can have a bad day and eventually you'll run into a CM that doesn't give the Disney service. That doesn't make it right though...

I better get off my soapbox before I get started.

Dinah is also named Rose. I thought she was the nicest CM I have met yet. She has been at the Barefoot pool bar for years but took a temp job over in Adventureland lat year. I really missed her that one trip! LOL! Fortunately she is back at the bar. Was Dinah the manager you spoke with or the rude one? It is funny how we have different experiences with the same person. I always look forward to seeing Dinah/Rose on my trips.

I'm glad I wasn't alone in my problems with WL CMs! We had issues with some CMs when we were there for dinner one night (long, sordid story involving bell captains/valets) I should have known then. I tried staying there after that - It IS a beautiful resort. I had terrible, terrible service from the CMs. Now my DH won't give them another chance -

Mezmom-We are checking in the same day you are! See you at the pool!
