I thought the same thing too! But she did manage to have a couple full plates. I don't remember if she had salad or not.

The desserts were ok. Can you go and just eat dessert?

I would go to just have a cup of soup or two and dessert. I'm always too full to do more than just have a bite or two of dessert.

Boma is wonderful and I can't wait to go back on Jan. 30 for dinner and Feb. 4 for breakfast. Actually I just can't wait to get back to Disney.

I made all my ADRs yesterday. I wanted Boma for lunch, but found out there was none, only breakfast and dinner. So I went for the latest breakfast time I could get.

Then I checked out the breakfast menu on allearsnet. It seemed to me to offer little "unusual" or authentic foods; it looked an awful lot like other breakfast buffets. So I checked the dinner menu (again), thinking I may change. It was then that I noticed that perhaps the food here may be similar to Restaurant Marrakesh, which we also have an ADR for the evening before Boma. Morroco is in northern Africa, and I have read several references to northern Africa on these posts.

So, if we eat at both, will we be getting basically the same types of food? Should we just do one and try something else, since they are both similar? (I have lots of other places I'd like to try, but since I am not staying three weeks...lol.) And if so, which would you recommend? We are adventurous eaters, so don't mind trying new things.

Also, if we stick with Boma and want more variety of "authentic" dishes, should we go for dinner rather than breakfast?

We were in WDW in August and had the "free" dining plan. All of the sit down restaurants booked up so fast, and we weren't ever able to get into Boma for dinner . I called every day while there, and couldn't get in. Such a disappointment...I positive that my DH would have LOVED it. I guess it's something for next time!

We visited Boma for the first time in Dec and ate there twice - once for breakfast and once for dinner. It was excellent both times and I can't wait to go back in August, when we'll also try Jikos.

There are some similarities between Boma and Restaurant Marrakesh - both feature grilled meats. Marrakesh has several couscous dishes, and Boma sometimes has couscous on the menu. However, they're different enough, and are very different experiences -- Marrakesh is table service with entertainment (belly dancers), while Boma is a busy buffett. The chefs at Boma work right behind the buffett in an open kitchen, and are available to answer questions and make suggestions. The desserts are very different, and Boma has a big variety of soups, too.

There's such a variety there that you should be able to enjoy both restaurants on succesive days.

OP, I 100% agree with you. I am what most people would consider a "picky eater" and I absolutely LOVED the food at Boma's. I can't wait to eat there again.

Thank you very much for answering, Maggi May. I guess we will try both, mostly because I really want to try Boma, and DH really wants to try Marrakesh...he has ever since our last trip nearly two years ago. I like the idea of being able to talk about the food with the chefs at Boma; more restaurants should do that, IMHO.

I am going to change it to the dinner, though. I still think the breakfast menu looks too ordinary.

Y'know...even though I wasn't fond of dinner at Boma I'm glad I tried it out. How do you know if you don't try something at least once, right?

Just wanted to add that we just enjoyed our first trip to Boma. The food was quite good, though I do have to report that much of the food has a slight sweetness to it, which was a little hard for me. I did, however, enjoy the infusion of curry in many of the dishes.

Though it was very crowded that night, we didn't have much problem getting our food. Service was a little slow in terms of drinks, but the lady was nice.

I can report that while the rest of you can love the Zebra Domes all you want, I will kindly ask that you leave those little crunchy chocolate mousse things for me. I could have eaten a whole tray of them any other time I wasn't already full from the main courses. I'm practically drooling thinking of them now
