Thanks, LL. I felt like a reporter many times during the trip. I kept thinking to myself - I must capture this for the DIS or oh, my DISers will love this. I thought about all of you often! It was fun having so may people "with me" on a solo trip!

I am doing the same Pop/AKL split stay in October - I hope it goes well.
It looks like you had a similar view to what I had in September at AKL, at first I didn't like having that big gate thing out my window, but it ended up being great.

Just kidding. Happy to have you along! How funny that you are also doing the Pop/AKL split stay. I'm sure you'll love it. Overall, though, I'm still not sure how I feel about the split stay. I didn't really like packing up in the middle. Disney made it as easy as it possibly could be but I kind of like arriving and unpacking and being done with it.
I have my fingers crossed that it means they are opening up more AKL rooms for the 4/3 deal for June 6 -- 13.
It's a lot easier to stay strong when there isn't temptation awaiting me everytime I log onto the DIS.

My guess would be Disney figures people spending the $$ for deluxes are more likely to spend on DVC so it's a good investment on their part. Those of us who only pay for values are more likely to take the tour out of curiosity (an the free ice cream sundaes
) and take the gift card without really planning on purchasing
That's probably the case. I think what bothered me was that my guide knew I was checking into AKL the next day. From a customer service standpoint, if I were her, I would have just said "look, when you check in tomorrow you're going to see this deal so here you go." I don't think that would have changed my ultimate decision not to purchase but it was in the back of my mnd when I canceled the 2nd appointment. I guess I can hold a grudge!

Happy to have you along! Yes, the surprise upgrade was fantastic!! Now I'm not sure I could stay at AKL without the savannah. I get spoiled easily! 
Tree of Life was also very cool. I'd never noticed half of those details before. I'm really looking forward to going back and exploring more in Animal Kingdom!
