I'm surprised no one posted it here but can you believe someone in our lustrous government thought it would be better if we changed a line in our anthem.

thank god they didn't change it - first Pluto isn't a planet then they change our anthem - i think i'd have screamed.

Aren't there more important things to manage like the economy, the war, ... than some over the top political correctness??? I've just checked Wikipedia it isn't the first time modifications are talked about.

If the wording was, "in all thy daughters command" and written 130 years ago (1880) I wonder if there would still be a push against the suggestion that it be updated?

What does it say about our country when people think a small suggested change to make our anthem inclusive (and accurate) to be "silly"?

I don't consider it an "over the top political correctness" at all. It shouldn't be a big deal to change it. I personally think it sounds absolutely stupid the way it currently is. It's just one example of when people say things so many times that they stop thinking about the meaning of what they are actually saying.

This was just a red herring, thrown out to distract people from the real issues we have to deal with, and it worked like a charm.

Where's all the anger that was everywhere just a few weeks ago over the unacceptable closure of parliament? Suddenly, all anyone is talking about is changing the lyrics to O Canada.

Considering the success of this move, expect more of the same in the future.

people were angry about parliament closing but it didn't amount to anything because it remained closed

at least we had a say in the wording - the mass majority hated changing it so now it's a dead issue - for now
