Good Morning everyone!

I hate to ask 1 more question about Cypress Pointe Resort, but I have too! :cool1:

We are going July 8-15 (family of 5, kids are 14,11,10). This is our 3rd time as a family. :goodvibes
I originally had reserv. for the Sheraton Vistana Resort for 1 week (164.5 nt). I used the entertainment book, and was originally told it was in the "old section. I requested rooms in the new section b/c my MOM cannot walk up stairs, but was told we would have to wait till check in. I even looked into renting thru Redweek, but it did not go as well as I hoped. Sooooooo, on HotelKingdom, I can get 8 days at Cypress Pointe at $87.00 (roughly) So now we can stay 1 MORE day and maybe do another day at the park!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My parents are coming too, which they have always gone with, and we enjoy it immensely!
Here are the ???? Please bare w/me!
1. BEFORE Nick took over the hotel, we stayed at the Family Suites Hotel. My parents had a 1 bedroom w/kitchen. Is the resort somewhat comparable to BEFORE NIck took over the hotel??? Scenery wise?? I do not like planning for anyone else's "happiness" on vacation, (even my parents).
Again, booking at CPR would enable us to stay more days and do more parks :cheer2:, BUT of course, Grandma and Grandpa are in a different point in their lives and are looking for scenery and accommodations instead of value. We suggested them staying at a different resort of their choice, BUT they wanted to be near the Kids! But I do not want to disappoint them!! I am sooooooo confused :confused3 My ????, are the grounds pretty?? ( I know we are getting value, and the rooms are new!!) Some one help me!!!!!

And 1 more question,

My Mom is NOT able to walk up stairs, if I book through HOtel KIngdom, and put in the comments area such, will they accommodate her regarding ground level??
Thank you soooooo much for all your help. This board has been a blessing for me and my family. I hope 1 day I can help someone as much as it has helped me! :teeth:
Please excuse my spelling too!
Michelle

The scenery at CP is ok..its not fancy like Vistana would be but I'm sure it will be fine.

As far as requests. Every time we stay there they try their best to honor requests and I'm sure one like yours should be easy for them to honor.

Oh, Diane,

Thank you for such a "quick reply". . .

I cannt believe how stressful I feel trying to find accommodations for someone other than "my family" (Of course, looking at the Monday morning mess is quickly taking some of that decision making stress away! :)

Hi!

You bring up a good question - we too are travelling w/grandparents who can't do stairs.

Does Vistana Resort not have elevators?!

What about CPR?!

We are also looking to book accomdations & are looking to choose between the two.

Thanks!

The Grand Villas at CPR have elevators, but the old CP villas do not. I have trouble with stairs due to lymphedema and requested a first-floor room last year when we went. They honored my request and put us right beside the volcano pool. It couldn't have been a better location for us. However, if your parents are looking for scenery, they may not like it. It's pretty compact - there are no winding paths through flower gardens or groves of palms, at least not that we saw. However, we never ventured beyond the clubhouse and the building we were in, so I don't know what we might have missed. There is a lake out front with fountains in it and a gazebo beside it, which is pretty. But the parking areas are right beside the buildings - great for convenience, not so great for scenery. But the rooms are beautiful and the compactness is great for someone who has mobility problems. I would try to show your parents some of the pictures that have been posted on these boards by other Diser's and see what they think.

We have stayed at CP twice. On the first trip last year, my request for first floor was honored. However, on our second stay last month, there were no first floor units available, so we wound up on the second floor. They try hard to meet your requests, but they are only requests. First floor is not guaranteed.

Hi everyone,

Thank you sooo much for your imputs. OHHHHH Boy, I am very worried now though, I can get a rate of $89.00 nghtly on Hotelkingdom for CPR, but w/my entertainment card I get a rate of 164.5 for Vistana, (no guarantee which unit). The NO elevator/being on a 2nd floor would totally run my parents vacation. OHHHHH the decisions!!!!!!! Have a good day!

I hate to add to your confusion. I understand it because I just went through it and made my final decision today.

We just stayed at Cypress Pointe - not Grand Villas this past month. The rooms were wonderful. We had a 3 bedroom with tons of space that was newly refurbished. We booked thru Hotel Kindom for $89 a night. We really liked it, but we found the rooms to be very noisy. We heard everything from the people above and next to us. Including when they flushed their toilet. But...for the price we loved it. The pool areas were nice...but nothing fancy.

I'm actually going on a last minute trip this June with my mom and my kids when school gets out and we considered staying here again. But...then I found a rate of $149 at the Marriott Grande Vista which we have stayed at before. I was just there in October for the third time and it was wonderful. THe grounds are beautiful...the pools were very pretty and there is a wonderful bar/restaurant right at the new pool area.

Because I am taking my mom, I want the grounds and pool area to be really pretty. While Cypress Pointe was nice, it was not exactly scenic. Just my opinion. (Our balcony overlooked the parking lot as opposed to say a golf course). If money is not the main factor, I would highly recommend the Grande Vista in a refurbished unit. But....you would also have a wonderful time at Cypress Pointe too.

Just thought I would mention it for you since you mentioned the Vistana resort for $164 a night. You can check it out on VacationClub.com. Just type M11 in the code box and you can check dates to see when the Member Rates are available. You can join their Marriott Rewards program right on line to qualify for the rate.

Hope this helps you and not just confuse you!!! Happy planning!

: Oh Heather,

I really appreciate your post... :rotfl2: (you did not confuse me more! :confused3 )

I am embarressed to admit that I have been playing w/the reservations for about 2-3weeks about 10 hours a day( well maybe not that many!). I guess it is just that it is sooooooo special and we want everything to be great. Last night after reading your post, looked on the "all ears net" board, to look at the Disney hotels. WOW, beautiful hotels, I admit, but how does one pay for it! (450-600 for Concierge at the Grand Floridian).
I found even more pics for the Cypress and Grand Villas. I AM SOOOOOOO CONFUSED! 2 1/2 yrs ago, we stayed at the old Holiday INN Family Suites, (the new Nick hotel). We had NO gripes. All was okay. Pool was ok, rooms were okay, scenery was okay. My parents liked this hotel too! I guess that is the ???? to ask, is Cypress comparable to the before renovated Holiday in Suites???
Then I wonder, am I overthinking all of this???????

Heather, thanks sooo much for taking the time to post. IF you type anything like me, it must of taken hours :Pinkbounc

HeatherC -

Could you walk me through the VacationClub.com process to check rates at the Marriott Grande Vista? I dont' know where to put the M11 code.

Thanks!

Hi Sport_Horse:

It's actually pretty easy...you can either go through Vacationclub.com or just go to Marriott.com. Under the city type in Orlando and then where it says type of properties just click on Marriott Vacation Club. It will then bring up the ones that are available for your dates. If it brings up Grande Vista - which it should, just type M11 in the Promo Code box. If there is no availibility at that time it will say at the bottom something like: "If your dates are flexible, click here to find availibility". Then you should be able to see when the Member Rewards rates are good for.

You can actually do this with all the Marriott properties. It's pretty much just playing around their website.

I hope this helps!!! Have a great day!
