Oh, bother!

Definitely check the travel agency sites, like expedia, getaway today, etc etc. Because disney sells rooms to those places, and those rooms will not show up on Disney's site!

PPH for 400 a night??? holy cow...I have used hotels.com will good success.

Remember it is supply and demand. They can charge that because people are paying it. Especially for that weekend. I can't believe there's a room to be had in all of Anaheim.

Another site to try is Arestravel. I booked a DLR hotel on that site before. Most people would not think to look there, so you may have a chance. Good luck! :)

There are lots of good neighbor hotels available. Also, Paradise Pier and Grand California are availabe.
PP is $2300 for June 14 - 19 including all taxes (Canadian $) DCA View
GC is $5445 inc. taxes premium view

Off site hotels:
Anabella $751
Carousel (club room) $975
Cortona Inn (one bedroom) $778
Residence Inn (one bedroom) $1215

Anyway, hope that helps, but these are availalbe and can be booked.
Let me know if you need help with that.
Cheers:)

sorry that happened. Good lesson for everyone to not wait until the last minute to book your reservations! (we booked 9 months out!)

I check the AP calendar regularly, and I know June 14th has been "sold out" for at least 4 weeks. I'm pretty sure that Disney reserved a lot of the rooms for the media (Media Day is June 14th for Carsland). Just guessing, but it makes sense to me. One option you may want to consider, although not ideal, is to call Disney hotel reservations and see if you can book onsite before the 14th and then after the 14th - staying one night off site. Again, not the best option. If you want to stay off site for your entire vacation, and you want it to be at a nicer hotel, you could stay at the Hyatt Orange County. They do have an exclusive shuttle that takes you to Disneyland and departs every 30 minutes.

The only night that is sold out is the 14th. Your only option if you want to keep your dates is to spend the night of the 14th at a good neighbor hotel. If you are hoping to hit the grand opening on the morning of the 15th, then perhaps spend your first 2 nights at the good neighbor hotel, then switch over to the one of the Disney resort hotels on the 16th.

We had to do this once when I tried to extend our Thanksgiving trip by arriving one day earlier and the DLH was sold out that night. We stayed at the Candy Cane Inn for one night, enjoyed their continental breakfast in the morning, and leisurely moved over to the DLH after breakfast, checking in our bags so we could hit the parks. We had a car and it was easy, but did take some time out of our morning.

:cool1:

(Not sure why, but I didn't get emails for all of your responses!? Yes I did subscribe at the bottom!;))

Anyway.....

Things have worked out just fine. :cheer2:

After I posted the first post I called Disney and figured out that I could just change my date by a day and it was fine, just couldn't get anything on the
14th.

I was determined to get that date, so I decided to check the travel websites and gues what!?!?! I got a room for that date!
(We'll have to change rooms the next day- but at least we will have a room to rest in and not have to drive early in the a.m. and not have anywhere to go!)

So happy. They must hold a certain amount of rooms for these companies? :confused3

And yes, I know usually you should book in advance. The Disney part of our ROAD TRIP (yes, roadtrip- from MN!) was last minute! Trust me- we LOVE Disneyworld and have booked every trip there at least 6 months in advance!!
First trip to the Land and very last minute. Not on purpose to be during the Cars Land opening- just happened!

But I appreciate all the tips! :flower3:

Can NOT wait for our visit!:earsboy:

Glad it worked out.

You mentioned that you are very familiar with WDW, but that this is your first DLR visit. You may want to do some reading up on DLR and it is different (and yet similar in many ways).

Enjoy your visit to the original Disney Park,
