Oh Amazon How do I love thee?

I'm happy that you found great deals for yourself. Unfortunately for me Amazon has been a bit disappointing this year. In the past I have done 90% of my shopping with them but now its not even 10%. Out of all the lightning deals this year, I've only gotten 2 things. Granted the prices on some stuff have been good, its just that the items themselves have been awful compared to what they have had in their deals in years past. There have been years where my UPS man was delivering packages daily from Amazon, but this year he probably wonders if I've moved

I agree but we use Prime for also streaming through Roku, so we don't have to have Netflix, plus a free book a month for the kindles. That alone is worth the price of admission for me.

Love Amazon - have been a prime member for years. I work a lot of hours and it is difficult and time consuming to go to the stores. The lightning deals this year have been ok, but not the best I have seen. We now also get the privilege of paying state sales tax since July.

My best lightning deal was a Thule 15 cubic foot roof top cargo box for $277 with free shipping! I have been watching these for awhile and this was a steal! Great for car trips with our two kids, especially our summer road trip to Hilton Head.

Yes, us too. Amazon must have operations somewhere in NJ. Darn it. Another reason to be irked at Chris Christie.:rolleyes2 :headache: He probably lured them here so he could collect more taxes. Grrrr....

Amazon is building a warehouse in Mercer County. I miss the days of no sales tax on Amazon orders.

So here's a weird question. If I put something on my wish list will amazon notify me if the prices change?
I don't think it will send you a notification but you can pull up your list and it will say if the current price is lower than when you put it on the list.

yup, we started getting taxed recently....I'm not overly worried, since I would pay them at the store anyway.... one thing I don't use much is the Prime for streaming....I can't find much on there unless I pay an extra fee,so I never use that feature...am I missing something?

Ahh, so that it. I guess it's too late to protest. Yes, I miss those days too especially for bigger items like dh's miter saw or our big screen tv. Glad we bought those before the tax went into effect.

As long as you turn of one-click ordering, you can just leave them in your cart and whenever you click back on your cart, it will list all the items that have price changes and whether it increased or decreased.
I probably have around 20 items in my cart I'm watching. It doesn't affect inventory/availability for others until I check out.

And Amazon Pantry is coming in 2014!!

We buy a lot of organics from Amazon, so hopefully Pantry will continue that tradition.

What will Amazon Pantry have? They already carry grocery type items so what will change?

I should listen to myself more often...:lmao: today I went to 2 stores looking for a folding step stool...couldn't find one...came home, ordered it off Amazon with Prime free ship...:woohoo: same price as the one that I had that broke (replacing it)

DH and I were out shopping yesterday. We went to LLBean, Field and Stream and Best Buy. We got a few things but mostly I snapped pictures of what I wanted and noted the item numbers. Once back at home I hopped online to find the cheapest deal and check for promo codes (Amazon was a winner in many cases) and placed my orders! Plus, many sites are offering free shipping this week and a guarantee for delivery by Christmas! I am very happy with my decision to browse in the stores (so I can feel the item, look it over, decide what color, etc) and then buy online.

This is all well and good, and I do it too and have worked for a retail store that had people do this and agian, I GET IT..but realy, in not too many years the brick and mortar stores like that very well may be closing becasue of online shopping and that will be a sad day.

I understand what you mean but things change due to technology & demand whether you like it or not. Email, e-pay, & texting have cut into USPS profits. Side thrusters on ships have reduced the need for tug boats.
Buttons on an elevator have eliminated the job of the elevator operator.
Big box stores are replacing the little mom & pop shops.
It's not all good changes but it is what it is. I can't imagine a complete elimination of brick & mortar stores.

Here is another reason to love Amazon....I purchased my Kindle Fire in March 2012. It recently stopped charging and I just called Amazon, hoping for a free shipping label I can send back for repair. At first the customer service rep told me that they don't do repair but they can sell me a new one at a reduced price. I told her that I don't have the money to spend on a new one. She asked to put me on hold for a couple minutes. She came back on and said that after reviewing my account and see that I'm a loyal customer (to which I am, order history goes back to 2000) she got approval to send me a free new Fire :thumbsup2

That's excellent customer service!!!

I get that..but the pre shopping shopping..seeing how something really looks feels and fits before going on line to buy it will be gone in some cases.
