I had read about it on the dis b4 we went, but man, was it bad
Now, I usually always rode by myself, so I prob would have tried to maybe hop in the single rider. But my DS11 has discovered his love of coaster (from me) :goodvibes
and he did all the big ones with me on our recent Disney/univeral trip (to my delight) :lovestruc

SO, we use our express pass since we were staying at the RPR and then you have to just "blend" in with the regular line. There are no employees there to help you blend, and believe me, people are not happy to just "let you in"
This is the worst idea ever, what was wrong with the old que? :confused3
They need to change it back!!

There's usually a TM there at the merge point but you're not the first to find no one there. I think the new queue stinks for more than just that -- Express Pass used to bring you much closer to the boarding point.

Apparently people were complaining that with the express queue the way it was, you couldn't ride in the front row. Personally, I think that a TM should be at all merging points in queues. It used to be like that on Popeye too and people would just not let the express merge.

Express riders need to complain to guest services if they don't like the new system.

Universal did send me a survey after our return to my email and I did let them know all about it :thumbsup2

Besides the merging problem, there was also a way longer wait
B4, you used to just have a few turns, run up the stairs, and there you were
It made me feel like I didn't even have express for the Hulk

The other problem is that, in lower crowds, the line is usually well past the merge point... but since it's still a line, not a walk-on, Express Pass doesn't actually save any time at all.

I hope they go back to the old system. I'd gladly give up the front row to be able to skip almost the entire line. Or maybe a modified system where you can be let into the front row line if you want but still have to wait. It was great being able to only have to wait 1 or 2 trains at the most.

Or they could try Six Flags old policy at certain coasters like Goliath at Fiesta Texas where the front row is reserved for Flashpass users (equivalent of Express Pass) and if no Flashpass users are waiting, then regular guests can sit in the front row. I don't think that would go over too well with the non Express guests though.

Definitely don't see it working due to the fact it would the impact of really pissing off the non-express guests. Universal wouldn't want to piss off people like that by making the front of the coasters be express only.

I could see a modified system working though. Either let the express people basically go to the back of the "front row" line once they are at the front of the old express queue, Or maybe since they often run 3 trains, maybe mark one train for express so the express riders get priority for the front on that train if they want it.

OR... simply mark it/post it that the front row is not available for express riders due to the way the queue is laid out. The Front row is cool and all, but just due to the logistics of the way the queue is laid out, I don't see an easy way to make everyone happy. I think that ultimately the majority of Express pass riders would rather deal with the old system of being able to quickly board the vehicle in another row rather then deal with the merge point and the increased wait and dirty looks they receive now.

Wow,they REALLY need to fix this!!!!! When you pay more to stay onsite, there should be a castmember at that merge point!!!!

Wow, there was really no one there? I know several TM's at Hulk who've told me that the new Merge position is required now from open to close. I know Dragons can get away with not having a merge because their line is never backed up to that point, but Hulk? Man, if that's true than Universal dropped the ball on that one.

But yeah, the reason for the change was already mentioned. Too many Express guests complained about not being able to wait for the front row, so Universal changed the line. However, if they do have this line the way it is, there needs to be a merge position there at all times.

If I understand it correctly, there is a merge position, there is just no castmember manning that position to allow the merge to occur. So you have onsite guests & folks that purchased the Express Pass that are having to ask the other's that have been waiting in line for a long time to allow them to "cut in", this could go really bad. Especially when you have folks that don't speak English & that don't understand the Express Pass system or the Onsite Front of the Line system & they won't let you merge into the line at the merge point. Universal should ALWAYS have someone standing & directing the guests to merge, I could see this getting really ugly if a castmember is not at that merge point & that is unacceptable !!!! You pay extra for that Express Pass or by staying at one of their 3 hotels, someone should be at that merge point.

:santa::santa::santa:

I was there in August and there was NOT a cast member at the merge point. I rode it 2x and gave up because the new queue sucked. It used to be my favorite ride.:sad2:

When we were there last 2 weeks in August, we were on The Hulk countless times and there was always a TM there at the merge point.

We were a bit worried before we arrived as we had read about the queue change, but it was fine and had no problems.

However I did prefer it the old way. If I want the front row I`ll be there early and queue up for it in the normal queue.

Where exactly is the merge point? And will it at least give express passers the ability to actually walk through the queue and watch the video that I have neveer gotten to fully see?! Obviously I liked the old way a lot better but I am just trying to be positive about the change even though it's annoying!

When I was there in October, there was no TM at the merge point. Also the line was short, so it would've been faster and easier for us to just go through the regular line. But when the express pass entrance still has about a ten minute wait in the normal line, this is a very bad idea on Universal's part.
