Does anyone know of a good offsite Steakhouse? I thought I have heard a few described in the podcast, but I don't recall any off the top of my head.

Has anyone been to any and can you tell me a bit about the one you went to?

Thanks....

Scott

Top quality - perhaps a little pricey (but cheaper in most cases than RuthChris which I put a step BELOW these)

Charley's - a few locations

DelFrisco's one location

Great all you can eat with top quality food Texas DeBrazil one location

All are can't miss quality.

Charleys yes very good.

But i love Logans........oh God to i love Logans,

There is one on 192 and another over beside the Florida Mall as well.

Yes, Logan's is good too but not at the same prime class of the three above. (but it is less expensive too so weigh that in!)

Is the Butcher Block still open? It's been 13+ years since I was there. I think when we were there, everything was ala carte, but it was yummy!

Another vote for Charley's. When we lived in Orlando it was out favorite steak house. Their filet mignon is amazing. We will be at WDW in 3 weeks, and we have reservations there our 1st night in town.

I have been to Shula's, and it is very good. I would put it in the category with Charley's or a Morton's. If considering Charley's I would suggest the original location on 17/92 near the Florida Mall over all the others. I've been to them all I believe, and there is a distinct difference in the steak between the original and the others.

If you don't mind a day trip to Tampa, DH took me to Bern's Steakhouse a few years back and it was one of the best meals we've ever had!!! It may seem a bit pricey, but it really is delicious!

Reservations are needed and if you go, don't forget to ask for the tour, and definitely plan to save room for dessert! :drive:

Logans! Logans! Logans! Reasonable and their steaks are very high quality for the price range (their filet is sooooo good). They have some great specials on dinners for two right now too on the weekdays.

Of the middle tier Logans IS very good. But until you've had DelFrisco's or Charley's, where even the sides are like main meals and just top quality, you don't know what you're missing by avoiding that $10-$20 extra. What I don't see is the additional value to a Shula's or RuthChris - prices get outrageous and no real change in the food quality over Charley's or DelFrisco's

I've only had one more memorable steak dinner than those I've enjoyed at Charley's & DelFrisco's in LasVegas - the steak alone was $79 while the sides were unbelievably overpriced (as in $25+ each) and NOT of memorable quality. However that steak (filet) WAS simply the best I've ever enjoyed and made even $79 seem like a deal. I didn't dare try the $199 one!

Is Logans the national chain store Logan's Roadhouse?

Yes, the Logan's chain. I go to the one on 192 near I-4, which is very popular with the locals. There is one at the Loop (Osceola Parkway and John Young Parkway) too, but I haven't tried that one.

I've done Morton's and was totally disappointed. I don't mind paying more for something that is worth it, but they were very "meh" and turned me off the upper tier steakhouses. I'm originally from Chicago and adore Lawry's Prime Rib. Their prime rib is noticably different (way better) than what you get in cheaper places. I expected that kind of difference in Mortons and it just wasn't there. I've tried a couple other of the pricey places and was similarly underwhelmed.

The only upper tier steak place where I ever saw a noticable different was at the Butcher Block on I-Drive. Steak was excellent, but it was really weird...we were there on a Friday night and were one of only three parties in the entire place. I don't know how long they'll last...they're nearly impossible to find, way down in the parking lot where Mercado used to be.

I would look for Sam Seltzer's Steakhouse...used to be one in Orlando. I remember going there with some former co-workers when in Orlando for a trade show. I insisted we go there because DH and I has been to the one in Tampa area. It's very good and I don't think overly expensive. They sell the spices they season the steaks with. I had ordered a couple bottles on the phone with them and had them shipped to me, but sadly we're all out again.

I just want to add that, while the Charley's on OBT did seat our two kids (2 or 3yo at the time), it wasn't exactly toddler friendly. It is a great steak place for adults, though. We spent about $100 for the four of us.

I've been to Logan's on 192 dozens of times, never disappointed. The four of us there generally run about $45-50. Good sweet tea, too. :goodvibes (you would not believe how many central FL restaurants make you sweeten your own tea.)

Charley's!!! We've been to the one on International Drive and DH and I agree they serve close to the best, if not the best, steaks we have ever had. Charley's usually makes a couple of lists every year as one of the top 10 steakhouses in the U.S. They also have an extensive wine list if you are a wine drinker. They are pricey, but to us for an occasional special dinner it is worth it. They have a website if you want to check them out. If you decide to go there, it would probably be a good idea to make reservations ahead of time.

We were lucky enough to have a group that attended a dinner at Charley's International Drive location last night. Superb! I hadn't been there for about two years and it was even better than I remembered it. A true dinning experience.
(PS - the small leftover filet I had for lunch was nearly as good as last night! Thank heavens for the full kitchens on a great Orlando timeshare so we can enjoy things like we are at home)

I was going to bring this up before, but it's been so long since I had been there. Since you went yesterday, I hope you'll know. Is that location still only open for dinner?

Open for dinner only at 5PM daily.
