Offsite Hotel?

Can anyone tell me if you have stayed at any of these hotels and did you like them or not?

Amerisuites Universal

DoubleTree Hotel at the entrance to Universal

Hampton Inn at US

If you are close enough are you allowed to walk in to Universal? How far is it from the road to the actual gates to get into the parks? Thanks all. Any help would be appreciated. LOL

I searched the disney boards and found a link that may help U for hotels within walking distance like the Double Tree. I hope this helps!
