Although the info is dated from Friday,
since this is such a major change, and I didn't see it on page one of the discussions...

Full MyMagic+ testing for offsite guests to take place during January

Disney will soon begin testing the full range of MyMagic+ components for offsite resort guests.

During January 2014, selected offsite guests will be testing most of the MyMagic+ elements, including My Disney Experience, FastPass+ at all four parks and the use of MagicBands. Disney has previously said that MagicBands will be available to offsite guests for a fee in place of using the card based ticket media.

This test is significant, because it will represent the first time that offsite guests can use the full range of MyMagic+ services. The current tests of FastPass+ at Disney's Animal Kingdom and the upcoming Magic Kingdom test are restricted to just the FastPass+ component.

interesting.. I wonder how they will "select" the people to test .. sign up at a table outside the parks lol? Makes me feel alittle better to see that offsite will be able to possibly purchase MB..to me that says then eventually will be able to reserve ahead of time (fingers crossed)

Maybe Disney will be working with some of the area hotels to offer this test to their guests. They could offer this to hotels (for a fee) so that they could offer it as a perk to their guests.

Hmm...this wording...

"most of the MyMagic+ elements"

While I hope they are going to let offsite prebook, this doesn't make think that they are.

I think when Disney says FP+ they mean electronic FP, whether same-day or prebooked. I think most of us think of FP+ as prebooked FP.

I kind of feel like this doesn't say...anything, other than selling MagicBands.

It also says they can use MDE. That could mean the app (rather than kiosks) for same day FP+. It could also mean advance FP+. Or it could mean neither. We I'll just have to wait and see.

They could start with the Swan and Dolphin.

Did I miss some announcement, or are AP holders not getting an offer of the magic bands at all?

At this point, only if they have booked an onsite stay (at which time you are then "active" and can always book FP+ for 60 days out). It has been widely rumored MBs are coming for other AP holders but no one knows when.

Most is what caught my eye also. If I was a gambling man I would bet against off-site prebooking. I can't think of one reason Disney would allow it. They can sell prebooking as an on site perk.

The only reason I can see them allowing prebooking for offsiters is to "lock in" the offsiters. Onsite guests are already committed to WDW to a much greater degree. If they are trying to make offsite guests commit to spending more time at WDW and feeling like they have a not-to-be-missed reservation, they may want to allow some type of advance booking, even if it isn't the full 60 days.

Most could simply mean that off site guests cannot charge with the MB. As someone who visits once per year because I stay in a timeshare, I hope that we can prebook even if it is at 50 days out. If I have to wait until I get to the parks to book, I may be able to get fp but at what times?

These replies are like déjà vu all over again.

I'm selfishly standing here thinking, "Rip the stinkin' bandaid off already and show us just how ugly it is!" I've got a house full of kids I've been talking up SeaWorld and Busch Gardens to who are now excited to dine with Elmo and/or fall furiously toward the earth like a falcon or something. I need to know what Iger and Mickey have planned so we know what we are counting down the next 109 days to...

I wish they would do the magic bands for the Shades of Green resort people. It's considered an on sight resort!

The fact the Swan and Dolphin guests get bands and shades of green vets don't is down right pathetic. I am not a vet but come on Disney really? And I like the new system.
