Officiants

Hey everyone!

I have a few questions about officiants. I know that you guys are always willing to help and always give me new perspectives.

1) How did you choose your officiant?
2) Did you have someone you know act as the officiant?
3) If you found an 'outside' officiant when did you contact them?
4) If you don't mind answering this, how much did it cost?

Thank you all. I haven't posted for a while because I have had to deal with family crap, which is a whole venting post, but hopefully I can just move on and plan an AMAZING wedding

1) I didn't know where to even look, so I went by the suggestions on these boards. We picked Rev. Jack Day. He seemed to be the one to suit us best for a civil ceremony.

3) My wedding is July 2011, and we contacted him last month (August).

4) He quoted us $300 and payment is not due until the day of the wedding.

I also had no idea where to go, so I started with the list given to me by our wedding coordinator.

1) We went with Rev Tim after reading the info on his web site and then emailing him. He emailed back with a TON of info and little pics of Sunset Pointe, it was awesome. My DF liked him because he mentioned he once wore a Hawaiian shirt to perform a ceremony at Sunset Pointe.

2) No

3) We contacted him as soon as we "penciled" in our date, just to make sure he was available. But - that was in July for an October Escape wedding.

4) He charges $200, $100 due when you sign your contract and $100 due at the ceremony.
