Officially have my points ….

So today I officially got my points and since I am resale they tried and could not help me book my first trip for Christmas at our home resort CCV so I am piecing together a waitlisted and what I can actually get trip until May when I can possibly book something somewhere else for my 7month window. I am grateful the CMs I spoke with tried to do what they could without me asking for it, but the support team would not override anything.

What are my chances of actually getting my home resort for Christmas?

We're outside of 7 months, but inside 11, which the table doesn't perfectly show. Even so, CCV is a small resort and it looks pretty tough for Christmas.

What size room are you going for? That has a big impact. Did the CMs you talked with set you up with some waitlists?

I have looked at that I have a feeling its pretty slim for a studio I don’t care which one shower or non. Yes they set me up with a split reservation since I was looking for 13 nights I figured that would be more likely to come up then all at once. Then I booked the nights that were available for now just to have them so I will see when I stalk the site lol what comes up that I can snag . I just wasn’t sure based on other people who know the system and stuff if they knew what the probability could be …

Yeesh, 13 nights is a lot. Is it during the Christmas season (early Dec) or actually over Christmas/NYs week? If the former, I’m not sure luck is enough:/ it is the hardest time too book most rooms on property and CCV is arguably the hardest (with VGF as a tie). If the latter, maybe a slightly better chance because it’s more expensive to go then and the Sorcerer pass AP is blocked out then, there tends to be a bit more availability. But still slim, especially with studios.

My only advice is to do what you’re already like of doing: book what’s available and stalk obsessively and keep track of the dates you need so you know exactly what dates you have v what you need. I’d also recommend doing single day waitlists instead of a full block of days. Single days fill faster and then once a date is filled you can waitlist the next. I was able to string together a studio 8nt stay in early December this last year at the 10 month mark (we became CCV members last Feb), but it took a couple months and a LOT of stalking. This year I only tried the morning of our 11th month mark and got nothing, but a couple days later got 2 nights. I haven’t tried since because we’re not likely going for the holidays this year anymore so I’m not sure how difficult it really has been this year.

Also 1bdrms will probably be a bit easier to get than studios so if you can seeing that point-wise that could be helpful too.

There’s really nothing for the Support Team to ‘override’ - December - especially the first 2 weeks - is and has been for a long long time - THE BUSIEST DVC Season - all room sizes book really quickly at the 11 month mark at CCV, GF and BRV. Studios in particular, get walked for months.

There are cash rooms available for my dates they just wouldn’t do the “welcome home” trip since it was resale and book one of those member services mentioned that while we were doing my orientation call.

Its over Xmas and NY specifically I am open to a split stay so I am going to keep my fingers crossed for my 7 mth window somewhere else and piecing together something at CCV. As long as we are in Disney idc .

I also have one closed recently. While waiting for points, I check https://tools.dvcvacations.com/points-calculator (it refreshes twice a day I believe) regularly and I feel hopeless for CCV lol. Since Christmas and New Year takes a lot of points, I am already considering banking them for the next year...

Congratulations neighbor! If you don’t mind me asking how many points do you have? I banked 186 from 2024 for this trip or more like had the seller bank them. I pieced some of it so far BUT I also have a waitlist for what I haven’t been able to do and I am keeping my fingers crossed for my 7 month window. I am stalking the dvc page every morning for rooms to open and so far have had some small luck.
