Is a POT recommended for the 10k? Like I said in a prior post this will be (as of this posting) my first 10k aside from doing the local March of Dimes walk + my first RunDisney race. Not that it matters as I'm 99% sure we will be in the dreaded last corral regardless but tips?

You don't submit PoT for 10Ks, you enter anticipated pace.

As Ariel said no proof of times for 10ks. There's no place to put it in, just anticipated mile pace. I think 10k corrals are little random in how they are spread out too, mile pace is used but I think a few other factors too maybe.

A LITTLE RANDOM?! I've come away from the last two rD races thinking they just shuffle the deck and throw people around randomly!! :rotfl:

In all seriousness, the corrals for the 10Ks seem CRAZY to me... no rhyme or reason. I worry about the half beginning to feel the same for many now that they have lowered the PoT bar to under 2:45...

Reading the posts about ADR's post race. Any slow runners out there? I will be in the back of the pack. I will most likely finish around 3 hrs for the half, possibly 1:15/1:30 for the 10k. Trying to figure out if I will have enough time for do a breakfast ADR after either race or if I will have to shoot for a lunch ADR. I can make my ADR's in 9 days so, I'm trying to work everything out.

Also since the race ends in Epcot, are we thinking outside of Epcot or inside? My original plan was to not buy park tickets for Sunday and only do the after party, but if the finish is inside Epcot, I may get tickets so that the family can cheer inside.

This is more stressful than planning a regular disney vacation, but I know it will be so much more fun!!

@turtlebean I'm planning on similar times. Finish line is not IN Epcot, it's in one of the parking lots outside of the park. I'm planning on eating at my resort so I can shower first. :) planning on late breakfast after the 10K and early lunch after the half, I think.

I put my finish down as 245 or 250 but I'm sure I won't finish that fast as I want to enjoy it and not simply run it. My friend will probably be in a later corral than me as well. We are planning to grab a late breakfast/early lunch/whatever at the food court, either at Pop where we're staying or AOA, we'll take the first bus we can get on depending on how we feel. We'll do it before or after showering because we're making a Target run Friday for breakfast and stuff. Then we'll have dinner at beaches and cream around 5 before the party.

Once I'm done running I'm more concerned about eating something I want to eat rather than having a fun meal. I may pack a snack in my checked bag to eat because I have to be in the mood for a banana otherwise eww, and I don't do the various types of bars.

We have most of our adr's on this first weekend, just 3 unless deluxe burgers isn't quick service or Edisons gets done, and we'll add a ROL if it starts by the time we go :) We'll probably add 1 or 2 sit down's at city walk after our two universal days, but those are much less stressful to plan since they use open table or walk ups.

I am finally getting excited for the trip now that we got registered for the half and our adr date is in a couple of weeks. But then I look at my countdown and see it's over 6 months away and know we don't have much planning to do before august though we do need to figure our costumes out.

Am I the only one concerned about the PoT only being required under 2:45
now? Makes me feel like SO MANY people will put down 2:45 because no PoT is required, and those corrals will feel like a random mess like the 10K does if you're a few corrals back. :(

I'm with you. I don't know what they're thinking moving it from 3:15 to 2:45.

For Star Wars, I had anticipated 1:20 for the 10 and 3:00 flat for the half. I ended up at 1:27 for the 10(traffic slowed me down big time), and 3:14 for the half(including selfie stops). We were back at Pop by 8:30 on Saturday and closer to 9:45 Sunday. The races ended at WWoS. The corrals were 8 minutes apart in the 10K(i was in the front of the last corral), 4 minutes in the half until larger corral H, then it went 6 minutes apart(front of the 2nd to last corral). Making an ADR after the 10K should be fine, but unless you are a seasoned runner, you won't want to mess with an ADR after the half. You will want a cold shower, a leg rub, and a bed. Outside of a powerbar and banana, I didn't eat until after noon on Sunday.

That being said, the Pop food court was wall to wall people after both races.

Thanks for the responses. I think I make one it will be after the 10k. I forgot that the day of half is our last full day at Disney & we will be eating dinner at Ohana before we head to Epcot. Ohana is always our goodbye dinner DH said to make Sunday a rest day or DTD day. The pool & hot tub might be looking really good by Sunday.

Do you happen to know what the first race will be with this new cutoff?? Is it W&D in WDW, with the only one before it being in DL?? Feel like I'm often a guinea pig! :(

I'm pretty sure it's Disneyland Half in September. We are not the Guinea pigs! :)

Though their corralling is different compared to WDW - they only have 6-7 corrals for the half marathons.

We'll be the East Coast Guinea pigs.

Yup, we sure will be!

I put in a 2:36 POT at registration, but have two shots to get a better POT before the cut off (the first in just two weeks!). I know last year was different with the race being cut short, but there were so many choke points around Epcot and I am keen to get out in front of the bulk of people and avoid these as much as I can (not because I am trying for a PB, but because I felt unsafe at these points last year - both due to the volume of people and the volume of frustration from others and what that could result in).

About that 2:45:00 cutoff... that's the way it was done before they made the change to 3:15 a year or two ago. My first couple halfs were no PoT for estimated finishes slower than 2:45:00. Corrals were bigger and fewer: my first PHM went up to H, with C being times under 2:45:00 - so D through H were all times over 2:45:00. What we don't yet know is if rD will stick to more corrals with fewer people in each going forward, or if they'll revert back to the bigger corrals. And DL won't tell us anything on that point, so yeah... W&D will basically be the guinea pig lol!

Yes, yes, and YES!!!! I felt ahead of time that I wouldn't like it for precisely the reasons that I ended up not liking it! Does that make sense!??! I think I'm still exhausted from the race weekend... ... ;)

I ran the race and had no problems with it and actually enjoyed it. It was kind of cramped on the course at times, but transportation was no issue because I was staying on property and just took a bus from WWoS back to my hotel when I finished. It sounds like the issue was the bus back to EPCOT. They probably should have allocated more buses to that.
